Good luck
He has to go into work at 8 on Monday. DS took a call to say that today which made OH suspicious and then a couple of people he worked with / used to work with phoned to say what they'd heard. Direct.gov seems to think he should get redundancy pay though so fngers crossed. After that, who knows? Ack!0 -

I think he should be entitled to his redundancy but as you are both thinking this is the way it is going I would read the Acas website and be armed with as much info as possible for 8 a.m on Monday morning.0 -

I've had a look but OH (a) doesn't want to "ruin his weekend by talking about it" and (b) isn't one for reading or discussion, even if I tell him what to say etc.0 -
If worst comes to worse he will get the stat minimum paid by goverment.

hi chocoholic, I hope that you are coping with whatever the news was on Monday, and I wish you the best of luck
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks chev. The news was that he was made redundant and we are waiting to hear if he's going to get a payout. In the meantime he's looking for work and has a couple of interviews tomorrow - only for agencies ad both have said there's little work available, but you never now.
I'm more worried that he's really fed up. I keep telling him to look upon the next few weeks as a holiday and a chance to spend time with the children (as he's always complaining that he doesn't see them enough) but he doesn't see it like that and thinks he should have a job by now.
On the bright side, at least we don't have the debts we had a couple of years ago, Christmas is more or less sorted and we didn't move house so the mortgage is small and manageable on my wage.0 -
Oh Chocaholic, how awful for your husband and all of you.
Thank goodness you didn't move.
My OH is in work at the moment, but the talked about contracts for the New Year have yet to be confirmed. So, I could have him under my feet
I would think that you are so pleased you got Christmas organised early.

Good luck to OH for the interviews tomorrow. I hope things turn around for you soon. As you say, thank goodness you worked so hard to get rid of that debt.
