    Hi chocoholic
happy new diary. I think there comes a point (having done major decluttering recently) when you have to say 'I need to get decluttered more than I need the money'. I had this and ended up taking 12 bags of clothes to the local charity shop because I just could not make enough time in the day to ebay it, or car boot it...

Maybe you haven't reached this point yet but it is something to think about

Definitely - I already have a couple of sacks for the Bags 2 School appeal to go in a couple of weeks. I am planning on looking at ebay as a challenge though and leaving the money in paypal to build up (without spending it on more junk!!). I have a mad ambition to make £600 to pay for a trip to Discovery Cove. It's very ambitious but we'll see!

Only because I have a dishwasher that serves that exact purpose! Anyway, who are you trying to kid? Your house is always immaculate.
  • Well, considering I've been off work the whole week I don't feel like I've made a whole load of progress!

I do have another bag of clothes for Bags 2 school, have given a sack of baby clothes to a colleague and have another one ready to give her next week, I have £60 in paypal from ebaying with another 17 items (7 with bids) finishing on Sunday, I have sporadically done daily clicks and DD and DS's wardrobes are both decluttered and tidy.

However, I still have several piles of stuff to photograph and list on ebay, and is it just me, or does that take forever?? I could have done with a month off work never mind a week as OH is going to come home and wonder whether he lives in a jumble sale or a laundrette.

Cash-wise it seems a bit tight this month, probably as I have a few one offs to pay for (gymnastics, DD's dinner money (I pay it half termly), DS's school photo, DD's pantomime money etc) and we're only ging to have enough to pay the bills without much left over. I have been putting money away for various things though (holiday, car (service / insurance), clothes and Christmas) each month and they are all included in bills so it's not that all the money has gone just that it has been allocated to various accounts - I think I'm budgeting!! It does mean that the car is due to be serviced this month and we have the money sitting in the car account which is a novelty for us!

Oh well, DD and Tom off at my mother's house at her Halloween party so I have a free hour in which to make a tiny bit more progress before I have to collect them...

  • I was complaining to my Mam this week how I hate listing and parcelling and going to the post office, then she pointed out I have over £100 in Paypal and haven't listed a fraction of the stuff I need to so I suppose it has it's gains in the long run. Need to get on and do some today while it's still 5p to list.

I missed yesterday as I took DD to Newcastle on the train to look for a shrug for a wedding we're going to on Saturday. Don't think I will take her too often as the one we found (in M&S) matched exactly a silver chiffony sequinned top that she looked georgeous in so I got her that too, then we also got some glittery jeans to go with it. I've told her she'll have to wear that outfit to every party over Christmas to get our money's worth. She does look stunning though...and so grown up!

I also got presents for my friend's three boys, my two nieces and a birthday and Christmas present for my Mam's partner (who is inconsiderate enough to have a birthday in December) - all using my Boots points. Even better, the 3 for 2 still works when you're using points. I was very chuffed!

  • Hi Chocoholic and all others!!
I am having a decent time on ebay at the moment to try and get my cc paid off. My positive mental attitude has been tested to its fullness recently - had the news that I am to be made redundant. Booooo !!!! I leave my job on 26 November and quite gutted as I am now very happy there but we all have to move on at some point eh? I have just received an email tonight from our payroll department stating that I owe them £397 to pay for the remainder of my annual travelcard due to my leaving the company when the notice period ends!!! What a cheek a) I am being made redundant, I didn't hand my notice in, they gave me notice! b) I only receive £660 statutory redundancy when I do leave c) what the hell will I need an annual travelcard for if I am not flippin well working!!! Aaaaaagh it is so very annoying!! But I am breathing deeply on very regular occasions, my belief in karma is at its peak and I am pretending very convincingly that I am not worried!!! Ha ha ha!!! So I really should be taking photos and listing more items on ebay instead of chatting on my favourite forums!!!
Well, enough about me me me!!! I hope everyone's efforts to get back on track are going well and I am more than sure (see, return of PMA!!!) that we will all get there in the end!!!
    Cheers all, keep smiling!!

  • Hi dirtyepic, sorry to hear about your redundancy!

Guess what...aarghh! OH has had numerous phonecalls from work sources today to say his company is closing down on Monday. He's worked there 14 years but they went into administration a while ago and rumours have been rife. Not sure what we'll do if it's true... At least we didn't manage to sell our house and buy a bigger one though - we'd have really been struggling then. They do say everything ahppens for a reason. If the company if insolvant, does that mean he won't get any redundancy pay? Must go and google it...
  • Hi sorry to hear about your OHs job, I don't know the answers to your question but I would look on www.acas.org.uk and if need be I would give them a call on Monday.

    Good luck
