As everyone has said before....it depends on the OR nobodys said you'll loose the car YET
besides "if" the OR decided to seize the car as an asset they have to provide cash back to you for a replacement....makes sense really the OR wont want you without a car if your workingWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
I know but do I take the gamble0

Know my luck lately the OR will sell the car and say its not exempt and we will end with car, do we just carry on and let RBS go for a charging order and pay this for the next 100 yrs0

The OR wont seize a car sell it then say its exempt....cant be done
at the end of the day nobody can tell you what course of action to take...only you can decide thatWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
sorry worded that wrong what I meant was with my luck they will say car is not exempt and sell it and we would end up with no car at least with CO we get to keep the car but have debt for the next 100 yrs0

Queen it is in the OR's interest that you keep a car especially if you are working or actively looking for work.
I do not know of a case where the OR has seized a car when the BR is working.
Of course the OR can advise on a cheaper model, but you will still have a car for work purposes.
I have kept my car & I am currently NOT working.BR 08/05/2008

Just been on to Parkers Guide in condition £2650 and in poor £2150 does anyone think that chances of keeping car likey or not however Autotrader you are looking at £3500+ for same0

Queen, I think you are missing the point here, if you are working as people are saying most ORs will not take the car from you, however, they can force the sale and make you buy a cheaper car, but you would still have a CAR. Surely any car is better than no car, as you say what you have is JUST metal, you do not live in it, you need it to work and the OR will know that when you tell him/her.
NONE of us can tell you if you are likely to keep the car you have NOW, or will have to buy a cheaper one.
You seem to be obsessed by the car you have NOW, try thinking of it in a different light, you work, you need a car to work, if the OR says sorry the one you have is too expensive but allows you money to buy another what exactly is the problem?

Hi Queen,
I told my OR that I was offered £1000 for my car px,Parkers listed at £3500 (Landrover)plus my car is converted to LPG so makes it worth more! I was exempted,I am unemployed and my 'trade' means I can't work local I have applied for jobs around 40 miles distance. I think Parkers is just a guide and not set in stone...the onus is on you to state your need..
Good luck

Until recently I was worried about my car, I work and due to illness need it for work, now I figure I really cannot worry anymore, the stress of the BR court date is enough to handle without worrying about a car. There is only so much one weary drained brain can take and the car is bottom of the worry list right now. Getting the BR over with is the first hurdle and then will worry about the OR part.
No good making oneself ill worrying about things you cannot sort out til they happen.
Parkers lists mine between 950 and 1400, my honest thoughts are to put a sum in the middle, it is not poor, it is certainly not good.
I think Queen you have to cross the bridge when you get there, worrying wont help and no one can tell you what the OR will decide as we simply dont know.
What you have to consider is it is no good being dishonest on the forms, they will and can check the worth of the car. Simply be honest and wait and see. If you did not work I would say worry, but you do.
