Fingers crossed! ps I checked TT website and it seems they are phasing out the nubby teats as they only had medium ones left and they're on offer but I'm sure boots do a similar style in case you want them later on.

Carla: I'm still recovering from the cold from hell  official line is paracetamol or cocodamol if it gets too much. and good old honey and lemon to drink.
I cheated a few times with throat sweets, olbas oil (there is a chance olbas is safe provided it doesn't get on your skin) and 2 nights I used sudafed nasal spray coz I couldn't sleep but mostly I just took paracetamol :A

oh i didnt know i wasn't supposed to have these. when i my cold/stomach bug (thats going around), i had Tescos cough lozengers. I didn't have too many, should i be worried???

I told hubby to feel my bump (higher region) last night and where i thought bubs was and bless him he went "ERGH".

When will soooo be staying up by the top of me when bubs arrives i imagaine :rotfl:

Himself was like that, got freaked out when he felt a foot sticking out, but had a good squint at the messy end when her head came out! And it was a messy forceps delivery too (he says it looked like a deleted scene from Platoon!) I have to point out, it was messy but absolutely fine, for me it wasn't too bad really, not exactly fun but bearable!

Do the ladies that live far away from their families have a good support network of friends who can help them out sometimes? It can get lonely sometimes, especially when DH goes back to work 2 weeks later, so please tell me you will be ok otherwise I will worry! :o

I second that (and Sami), my family and friends live a long way away and I was very lonely until I started going to every group that would have me at our local surestart centre! btw Feelinggood, I was a pretty solitary person too, I work from home after being poorly but once Celia arrived I really craved company! I think we're both better placed than if we were used to being at work et al though but I was surprised at how much I wanted to get out so it is worthwhile seeing what's out there just in case

Good luck sb btw many labour vibes, and no overdue vibes :D

I’m a lurker rather than contributor on here – but found it really helpful to see everyone suffer the same worries I have.
24 weeks, first time mum to be, no brother/sisters, friends haven’t started families, so really have no experience of babies!

Just wondering if anyone could help with bottle feeding question. I know the advice is to make every feed up from fresh. That’s ok during the day but not practical at night.
I know you can use the cartons of milk at night as alternative, but I’m wondering about the bottles.
I don’t want to keep running the steriliser and then taking 1 bottle out at a time and re-starting it.
So if steriliser finished at 10 at night, and I take out a bottle for feed then, can I also just take out another bottle, screw lid on and leave it empty until night feed, then fill with milk from carton?
    Is the bottle still sterilised?

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense but the guidelines don’t say how you cope with a child who’s hungry and needs feeding straight away if you are using bottle feeds!

    Any help appreciated!
If you sterilise the bottles at night and make them up there and then then put them in the fridge they will be fine, you dont need to bother with the cartons either.

it depends which ones, I had the ones with antiseptic and anesthetic which I'm pretty sure say not in preg :o but I think tunes n locket ones are ok:confused:

never worry about something you can't undo ;)

ETA: plus most of the drugs we avoid are quite possibly perfectly safe its just that they can't be tested on preg ladies so to avoid another thalidomide disaster we are told to avoid anything thats unkown. I took tonnes of imodium before knowing I had Chris in my tum and he turned out fine ;)

I know exactly what you mean! I was so guilty too and we went to a baby group and when we started about 2 of us were microwaving after about 4 weeks we all were!

Ps krystal I know the advice but Chris never had a stomach bug and it didn't do any of my friends babies any harm either, when we went out and a bout I took powder and water separate or a carton. I asked the HV and she said as long as they were kept in the fridge at the right temp it would be ok and I'm happy with the decision I made :)
I must be going to hell coz I used to make up the bottles with boiling water, let them cool down and then put in the fridge, spud is fine though.

I don't want to be a harbinger of doom... And people who are bottle feeding, the information on how to make up feeds safely will be in the booklet you get from the midwife (birth to five years I think) and also a leaflet from the department of health. If you ask in the hospital there will also be someone there trained to show you how to make up a feed.

All the guidelines are there to give people an informed choice and for the health and safety of the baby. It is recommended that newborns have ready made cartons as I said earlier because they are sterile and therefore safer than the non-sterile powder.

The fact of the matter is, babies can get ill and even die from poorly made up formula.

As with everything when you have a baby it is your personal decision on how you make up / store your bottles and feed your own baby. But it is not safe to give the wrong information to other people.

Yes I am pro breastfeeding but more than that I am pro informed choice.
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
