Does anyone know if having an infection-don't know the exact kind till test comes back at end of week- might be bad for either the spermies or the egg-if indeed it has finally ov?. I am guessing antibiotics are ok?
Happy birthday!!!:bdaycake:
I think having infection might delay OV, but not sure about antibiotics. Although, this answer is what we want to hear:I am reading a book, Taking Charge of your Fertility, which states that actually taking antibiotics (it suggested amoxicillin) around 4 days before you ovulate is helpful in conceiving because it makes your cm more egg-white consistent which is great for sperm to swim in... so I wouldn't worry a bit!

Reading the rest of the replies, actually makes me want and get some antibiotics!!!! Maybe that is the trick to end 15 months of no luck????Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Thank you for the virtual cake
Oh well, that is good about the antibiotics, hopefully the ones I am on are good too- not sure about the 4 days before ov, only temped the last cycle and got pg so no clue when my "usual" CD is for ov and also might be a bit hormonally confused since the D&C (did a ebay test last week and still showed a very faint positive so taken a while for the HCG to leave my system- must have gotton well high prior to having the op -flipping blighted ovum confusing my insides!)0 -
Hello, though it was about time I wrote on here. I've just read the whole thread (over 3 days) and it's great to see so much advice and support.
I came off the pill in May and have been trying since then. Starting to get obsessed but trying not to. Things were ok when I first came off the pill - regular periods and that around 30 days but then September I forgot to write down when I had my period, had some light bleeding on the 26th Sept then nothing till the 11th October which was definietly late if my September one had been one time. That was the worst period I had ever had (had to leave work early). So that was the 11th October, this month I had a bit of light bleeding on the 12 and 13th but then it stopped! Now I just don't know what is happening but I've had sore boobs for the last week (not normal for me) but no sign yet of AF.
Anyway I'm going to the dentists for a filling tomorrow and the dentist asked me to do a test before she does an X-ray so will be POAS tomorrow morning.
Just to let you know my younger sister was trying for 15months after coming off the pill, she is now 3 months pregnant. I'm excited but also jealous.

I don't change anything at all until I get a BFP. Its easy for me though as I rarely drink, don't smoke and am unemployed at the moment (my last job involved lots of heavy lifting) If I went out with the girls and it was during the 2ww it wouldn't stop me having a drink but if AF was late it would make me think twice and I probably wouldn't go out.
I was just looking about the links on the SMEP site, and read this about drinking during the 2ww. Drinking before you knew you were pregnant. The majority of women do this and it has no bearing on miscarriage. I personally tossed quite a few tequila shots the night I had a negative pregnancy test on the ninth month of trying. Two days later another test was positive. I didn't blink an eye. The baby doesn't get a drop of blood before implantation, and receives so little for the first few weeks that you really just don't need to worry about it. If you continue drinking once you know you are pregnant, however, you can cause a serous problem with Fetal Alchohol Syndrome. Once the test is positive, pick up baby bottles, not liquor ones.

So I've decided from here on in, I'm going to stop being quite so puritanical about what I take during the 2ww. I think treating that time like part of a pregnancy is doing me no favours mentally. I have very little doubt that I will get pregnant soon enough, but acting like I am for 3 weeks out of every 5 makes me think too much about that "baby." I'm not particularly hedonistic as it is, but until I get a BFP I'm not going to act like I am pregnant anymore.0 -
I stopped drinking and take vitamins for people TTC but that's it. And the drinking thing is also a MSE thing. Bought my boyfriend a G&T in a bar the other week and it cost nearly £7! So was glad I wasn't drinking!

I have the odd drink here and there - mostly I'm trying to cut down my caffeine intake (I could do with doing that anyway!) and stay off the booze in solidarity to my DH, who is doing very well at not drinking to help his little swimmers be strong and healthy!
The main thing I'm really trying to do all through the month is not take ibuprofen apart from cd1 when I need it or would be in agony! I read somewhere it can damage the follicles (?) so I'm avoiding taking any wherever possible.
I think I menioned earlier my doc asked me about heavy lifting at work, so I'm going to try and avoid that where possible. It's so hard not to wonder if you're pg *sigh*

Ah, but where I live all the cocktail bars, and there are many, do 2-4 hour happy hours, with yummy cocktails for £2.50. I spent too long living in a crap part of London, where it was bad enough having to venture out the door for work and dog walks, nevermind go to a bar. And I only lived here a few weeks when we started to ttc. And since my miscarriage I haven't been able to drink at all, as the few drinks I had on my friend's birthday made me extremely drunk and then I got really upset.
So I'm going to enjoy myself a bit more. I was at a friend's engagement party on Friday, and one of the couple is a sommelier, yet I turned down even half a glass of champagne because I had odd pms. Instead I drank 7up, which I don't like, and wondered if they'd get married after the "baby" was born and if I'd fit in the dress I'd bought for the wedding I missed while miscarrying, or if they'd get married soon and I'd need a fancy maternity dress.:o
No more. I have 2 and a half weeks left of my 20's, so I'm going to enjoy them. If I get pregnant, next month I get pregnant. If not I'm going to keep on enjoying myself.0
