Trying For a Baby II

Hi Girls,
I can officially join the thread now as we have started TTC.
I think we missed our chance this month as we visited family this weekend which was my ovulation time so no baby dancing for us. So now we are already waiting for next month.
Sending baby dust to all.

Welcome B2B, wishing you success in TTC!
I am also now waiting for next cycle to roll around - at least then I will be off these unfriendly tablets and we can get BDing in earnest again!0 -
Hi Ladies Well here it is as promised
After all the blood tests they have done, my prolactin levels are normal, and it is not cushing's disease.
I have been informed that it is definately PCOS, but when they determine the extent of pcos they measure I think they called it ?? Your LH Levels. Well in a Pcos sufferer it is usually between 3 and 4 times higher than the average womens.
Mine is only 2 x's the average so they said just under double. This I have been told is a really good sign as my ultra sound also showed the cysts on my ovaries to not be as severe as they first thought. (YEY)
I am now waiting for further blood tests with the fertility doctors to start this clomid, but they said they do not want to throw me in the deep end so to speak by starting clomid today, so I am starting in 2wks times, they will be closely monitoring me and blood tests every wk (lucky me) and this will help me to know when I will ovulate etc etc. tHEY ARE PLAYING IT RIGHT DOWN TO THE BOOK AS THEY ARE BEING EXTRA CAUTIOUS DUE TO THE CLOMID NOT WORKING LAST TIME.
After asking if If would hopefully work his reply was this, it did make me chuckle. ( my dear the pcos is no-where near as bad as first thought, I have helped hundreds if not thousands of women successfully conceive and I am not about to let this one slip through my net) With this he look straight at me and winked (bless him)
So All in all im feeling very positive again if not a little anxious to get started. Im very excited now so lets see what the next month holds for me hey.
Thankyou all for your support you have all been amazing to me. I dont think I would be this far without you all, im sure i would have thrown in the towel.
Sorry for the lnog post but as promised wanted to fill you all in.0 -
Brilliant news Kenco
Will be keeping everything crossed that all goes to plan this month for you, xx
Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
AH Kenco you mad me cry again! I feel like I'm doing the emotional rollercoaster with you! I'm so glad it all sounds much more positive and that your new Dr really knows his stuff! You'll soon get used to the blood tests, I was a big coward with needles and they always find it near impossible to get a vein but I've had so many in the past year I feel I could do a better job than alot of the Dr's! I say Dr's because they're the ones who are rubbish-nurses on the other hand are usually great! Fingers crossed for you Kenco, if you are unsure of ov etc I can highly recommend the Clearblue fertility monitor! It's a bit pricey but because of the lack of af and ov etc it gave me some much needed reassurance that I was actually ov'ing. My endocrinologist said he thought it couldn't possibly be that accurate (he's a man thought and thought that all women have 28 day cycles and ov on cd14!) so I didn't pay too much attention! Anyway after having progesterone tests last monthit proved it was spot on!
Gymfriend I know exactly what you mean about the other thread in fact I just posted on there saying pretty much that! Said I feel somewhat of a fraud compared to what Toniq and Nottslass are going through!
Oh lets have lots and lots of BFP's this month and -no offence to the newbies- but it would be really nice if it was some of us diehards rather than the newbies!0 -
Thankyou All of you
Becs thanks for the info, I think I will buy a clear blue, I think it could help me. I am very happy that in 2 wks I will be on clomid, I will then feel like I am a little bit normal so to speak and running the same road as you all. Instead of being out on my own.
I will post on here everyday and keep you all updated on the clomid,
Forgot to mention other half had sperm etc tested again, all normal on that front, so it is just me unfortunately.
But thankyou all and fingers crossed
lets hope we get some POSITIVES SOON0 -
Ah Kenco,
you're definately not on your own, we all have obstacles to overcome they're just different between us. 18 months ago I was in your position, No af, no ov and no diagnosis. I now feel that I am on the same road as everyone else.
By the way I bought my Clear blue monitor off ebay as can be quite alot cheaper.0 -
Great news Kenco, keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Well I feel like I've turned a corner today - no tears!!:rotfl:Had a bad weekend found out that two of our friends are expecting just weeks before my due date was which is upsetting, but today I feel much better, definitely ready to move on:j
Lots of sticky baby dust to everyone;)0 -
Kencokenco :j I'm so pleased today went well! Phew, your doc really sounds a good 'un thankfully. Big hug x
I might join you in getting the Clear Blue Monitor, but they are expensive even on eBay to me! Haven't seen them on offer anywhere yet, but will keep an eye out.
Catw0man, good to know you're feeling more positive now x
I agree so much with Becs, lets hope for some positives for lots of us showing up soon. My OH has low sperm count (vitamins and so on now underway) but we won't give in to such obstacles and will keep trying along with the rest of you, x
Don't they say it's always good to share?! :rotfl:0 -

Don't forget to factor in the costs of buying the sticks too. You are looking at £15 - £20 for a box of 20 sticks.
I got lucky and had free use of a monitor and all the sticks for 6 months so can give you a rough idea of how many sticks you need per month....
Month 1 (uses lots whilst monitor gets used to you) used 16 sticks.
Month 2 used 10.
Month 3 used 7.
Month 4 used 7.
Month 5 used 15. Long cycle, peaked on days 23 & 24 with AF on day 38
Month 6 used 20. Short cycle. Apparently no ov and AF on day 28.
Once the machine gets used to you it asks you to start testing on roughly the same CD each month and will keep asking you to test until you get a peak. If no peak it stops asking you when you go to low.
Personally I think for someone who has a regular cycle length each month and knows roughly when they ov the monitor probably won't be of much use but for someone like me whose cycles range from 27 to 38 days its probably most useful.
HTH:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
