  • I am only just joining this thread as I have only just found it, I am 43 next month & desperate for another child as our son is now 5.

I have been taking Clomid & am on cd10 & was eagerly awaiting to start using my ovulation test sticks when I broke my leg, question is do we carry on as planned or wait for me to get my pot off in 12 weeks?

    What does everyone else think?

Hi Ladies, welcome Natalie, I don't know what to say re-waiting, if you and OH are up for bding then why wait? (novice answer)

Right well I would love some answers from you ladies. I have just been for my smear and the nurse said there was some blood on my cervix before she began. Could this be an implantation bleed? I will not be able to say any spotting today or tomorrow will be anything more than a reaction to the smear!???

Anyway it has just got me thinking as the nurse could not come up with anything else except my period could be early.

Thanks guys, I know i am probably just hoping too much, but i am on cd18 and believe i have ov'd so could be on 3dpo.

I shouldn't have done any research. I found this page www.baby2see.com/development/ultrasound_sonogram/first_trimester_scans.html
but it says that even by week four (I'm week 6) the gestational sac should be 3-6mm and mine is only 1mm with the yolk sac 0.1mm. Guess I just have to wait and see.

Well I went for a scan today - only took 3 hrs to be seen :o They could see a gestational sac and yolk sac but nothing else so I have to go back in a week. Technical question in case there are any experts out there - last time I had my first scan at 7+2 there was no yolk sac so does the fact I have one now at 6+1 mean I have a better chance? I tried to ask the scanner but she wasn't very helpful - just told me to relax and not worry  easy for her to say.

I had a few scans before which eventually diagnosed a blighted ovum and my first one, about 5w5d I think was just a sac measuring correctly, then I had another one later and there was a yolk sac, must have been after 6w, so I would say yes it is good that there is a yolk sac and at about 6w you don't always see anything more than that as far as I can find on the net (some people see more, some see less even). I found that the person doing the scan didn't really want to discuss it with me either and I had a different person each time! I take it that they did an internal scan?

I went bonkers while waiting for HCG results and between scans and googled everything! The internet is evil for this. Just remember that every woman is different and just because x y z have an average size of whatever, it is an average so there will be tolerance either way.

I found that the whole HCG doubling every 24-48 hours information was based on a study of under 100 women (80 something maybe) which to me is not a very large sample volume to be basing that on!

I think a pinch of salt is required and as much as you can keep away from Google! If it is meant to be ok it will be ok at the next scan and fretting over the internet doesn't help (she says but would be doing the same thing probably like last time :o ).

Lizziebell, I quite agree! Too much knowledge can be a dangerous thing and hard though it may be, the best advice anybody can give is to just try very hard not to worry - do other stuff to keep you organised (even if it means your spring cleaning comes early ;)) and do/watch/read things you really enjoy to take your mind off everything.

But still, Jennynoo, (and anyone else!) you know that lots of us out there are crossing everything for you and are with you in mind, if not in body xx
  • I totally agree with MadMac and Lizziebell Jenny, too much information can be a terrible thing. I am a student nurse and am constantly on the look out for symptoms of any kind relating to any illness lol. This is because I probably know too much. Try not to worry and will be thinking of you. Please let us know how you are xxx

  • Hi everyone well I never thought i would be so happy to say that AF is here:j This is my first one since my mc and ectopic and to top it off the hospital have just rang and discharged me :j :j In the end my ectopic did rupture! and i was admitted back to hospital at 3 in the morning i was very ill and being sick with the pain but thankfully it ruptured outside of my tube so all intact there. I have lots of fluid in my womb which will go in time had a smear there incase it got infected but all ok. So after my ordeal i am a happy bunny now and can finally close that door in a way it all has helped me to grieve for my babies and i feel i can move on now.

We are going to wait for at least another month before we try again because of the drugs i had to have. Do you think this is too soon?

Im am going to catch up on what i have missed hope there has been some BFP's
