Hi there Panic. I am actually a salesman for Everest. I would be more than happy to give you a no obligation quote if you would like. With Everest there are a few things that you do not get from the others. Firstly you get "THE BEST" product on the market and this has been confirmed by the Advertising Standards Agency. Secondly you also get the best guarantees, unlike our competitors who offer insurance backed warranties. This ensures long term piece of mind. We have a price promise that says that if you can find the same product to the same standards and the same guarantees that we offer we will refund the difference. We are not the cheapest but we do offer value for money. Currently we have a promotion that may save you up to 40% off our normal prices.
And finally if that does not convince you. Read on:
It is unwise to pay too much but it is worse to pay too little.
When you pay too much you lose a little money that is all.
When you pay too little you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the things it was bought to do.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot, IT CANNOT be done.
If you deal with the lowest bidder it is well to add something for the risk you run. And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better.
There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a litte worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey.

The ASA don't / won't endorse a particular supplier's products - their neurality and impartiality would be called into question if they did."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
My 2p
I lost 250 quid thanks to coldseal (who were recommended to me) a few years back...
Don't fall for special offers which force you to make decisions there and then.
Don't use a national, use a local.
Don't pay anything up front, no deposit etc.
Don't expect any DG company to be there next year unless they have phoenixed themselves.0 -
dont touch Everest DG with a canal boat stick.
they will start with a price of 15 k and come down to 7.5k.
which is still twice as dear as the local suppliers.
(they will also drink your tea/biscuits for 6 hrs if required to get the order).Get some gorm.0 -
As others have said go with local firms. Unless you are very good at haggling and know the prices of windows and glass. They don't need to be Fensa registered, you can do your own building regs bit yourself (check your LA website for instructions). <£300 (fitted) per window is your ball park figure. If you have a bay window each section counts as a window thus a 3 section bay = 3 x 300.
You will want 70mm profile and all frames to be reinforced. All DGU (double glazed units) units to be 28mm. "K" glass is the Pilkington brand name for low emission glass i.e. keeps the heat in. Other glass makers call it something different. Building regs insist on low e glass. Any glass that will/could be accessible to a small running child and/or adult should be toughened or laminated this is also in the building regs. Upstairs windows that are in habitable rooms need to be the egress type again this is coverered by building regs. Only have locking handles on downstairs(ground floor) windows. Make sure that all prices include removing old windows, fitting new windows, making good using appropriate architraves, reveal liners etc and the taking away of all waste materials including the old windows.
Woodgrain frames cost more, brass coloured handles cost more. Decorative glass costs more. Don't get Georgian bar, looks awful! Make sure that the fitters use proper frame fixings and don't go crazy with gun foam and silicone.

To man in the street. I refer you to the Daily Telegraph Wednesday 28th September 2005. The ASA, after various tests on products compared to all other major competititors agreed that we could keep our motto "fits the best". This was after a gruelling court case where we had to prove the fact, otherwise we would of had to drop the slogan. The ASA ruled, and I quote "The advertisers proved their standard products had a significant advantage above their competitors". I refer you to Carlsberg which is now "probably" the best lager in the world after being ordered to change their slogan.
By all means if you want to save a few pennies and repent in 5 years time, then knock yourself out. Just remember, that there is a legitamate reason that Everest are allowed to use that slogan.0
