Thanks to MSErs I've had a couple of amazing bargains this week.

I've bought a wool coat for £15 (Asda) and 240 plug plants for 4p (greenfingers). And of course the regular shopping bargains too.

  • The positive thing this could bring is that people could be more careful with their money. They might save more, they might spend less, they might even stop being greedy and big headed and think of others.
Banks might be more careful , to make sure people can pay back and not get into dreadful debt.

And I got my £5 marks and Spencer voucher.
  • The stockmarket has fallen through the floor but is only at the level it was five years ago, not 20 years ago. Maybe the crash is not as serious as our stockbroker chums think.

We will all be more careful with our money in the future - mybe we will get rid of some of the obscene waste and over-indulgence that goes on. Hopefully Christmas will be a more relaxed and cheaper family holiday.

I think people have developed some perspective in their lives about the flip side of the pursuit of wealth.

House prices should settle at sustainable levels.

    • Icesave individual customers will be getting their money back one way or another.
    • Kaupthing Edge deposits have been saved.
    • No UK individual yet can say they have lost a penny of their savings.
    • The world governments have started to talk to each other about the crisis.
Excellent, too many doommongers and trolls about on here especially last week.
The British Government took swift action to save those of us with Icelandic banks and the sun has risen again this morning and will do so again tomorrow. None of us died due to the banks collapse, although stress levels were high we still had food on our plates.

For anyone who believes that this is the mother of all crises, read about the South Sea Bubble.

I seem to remember that the company directors lost their land and assets etc. to the government in order to compensate the poorer folk who lost out. Perhaps or current administration could learn something from this episode?

I'm glad this has happened to give us an opportunity for reflection and to realize just how lucky we are. Just the fact that we have internet access to post here makes us incredibly fortunate compared to so many before us and in our time.

Maybe some fat cat bankers like the ceo of rbs will fall on their sword and resign. Do these people really work hard at all? They sponge off the rest of us and gamble recklessly but can get away with it because they have pulled the wool over shareholder's eyes. If only their payoffs were switched to helping the government fund all the bailouts.
