Yes I was near the limit on my card and they quoted a minimum payment on their monthly statement. This was paid via direct debit, but it was not enough to escape an overlim fee. I rang to query this and was told that their miminum payment is just a guide and customers should work out the correct payment to cover the extra interest.
Something doesn't ring true here - if you are indeed paying by direct debit, then they should be calculating the correct amount and requesting it.
And if you're going over your credit limit, then they will charge a fee.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I havent got that much left, £70 on Edge card which im paying off monday, and then its a £6k loan and £1200 overdraft. I want to get a credit card to clear my overdraft first and pay £150 - £200 a month back then up my payments to my loan from £150 pm to £250.
After having three credit cards in the past, I am sensible and know what bad debt is and as soon as the overdraft is gone, I will be getting rid of the card.
When I said about purchases over £100, I mean one offs like our honeymoon next year. We have saved for it so when the time comes to booking it, we will have the cash and its just a matter of paying the card off in full for that transaction, making our holiday covered. I will not be buying stuff on the card unless I have the cash first, thats just stupid.
Does anyone else see my point on this??Freebies - Savvy Shopping Bag, Energy Saving Plug, Hugo Boss SampleWinnings - Dvd The Road sold on Ebay for a tenner

I was thinking that.0 -
I love my Cc. I don't have to carry sums of cash around, or a chequebook, which always had quite a small limit per cheque. I can use it on the net and I pay it off every month, getting an itemised list of my spending. I also get a bit of security with bigger purchases. I ditched Barclaycard ages ago when they added the fee, I now have an Amex - the people at CS are lovely and it pays me back!

Long live the free credit card!
That said - they obviously don't work for everyone, so there's always chequebooks and debit cards;)0 -
Sounds like the overlimit situation was caused by additional spending between the statement date and the DD collect date.Paul_Herring wrote: »Something doesn't ring true here - if you are indeed paying by direct debit, then they should be calculating the correct amount and requesting it.
Once notified (on the statement), the DD amount cannot be increased due to the DD guarantee 'rules' of 10 days notice.

If you pay payment protection, then you shouldnt be forced to pay as you are covered.Freebies - Savvy Shopping Bag, Energy Saving Plug, Hugo Boss SampleWinnings - Dvd The Road sold on Ebay for a tenner

I was still trying to apply with Egg and gave up as it kept saying there was a problem! Only thing is I only have a limit of £1000 and my overfraft is £1200, can I ring and ask for the limit to go up so I can transfer it all or what?Freebies - Savvy Shopping Bag, Energy Saving Plug, Hugo Boss SampleWinnings - Dvd The Road sold on Ebay for a tenner
