Avoid Mbna Credit Card Company

They ask you to make a minumum payment then have the cheek to charge you an overdraft fee because the minimum payment wasn't enough. Their customer service is rude and unhelpful and their interest rates for existing customers is excessive.

They are good to me though. Nothing bad has happen... yet.0

Not sure what your personal circumstances are but I am quite happy with my mbna card. Online details are very clear and they process payments fairly quickly.
Did you go over your credit limit?0 -
Can I have your card then? They will not give me one  , I will buy the debt off you...for a tenner! lol :rotfl:Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Could you explain your story a bit better? Like was you doing a manual payment for your bill? Did it not state the minimum amount that was required?0

I like MBNA, they keep coming up with offers every so many months, they gave us a great credit limit, we got 2 x free MP3 players out of them and we saved a packet with their 0% deal.
We forgot to pay one month after a traumatic month with family issues last year and they even credited our penalty fine on the spot when I called them. tbh I couldn't really fault them."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Yes I was near the limit on my card and they quoted a minimum payment on their monthly statement. This was paid via direct debit, but it was not enough to escape an overlim fee. I rang to query this and was told that their miminum payment is just a guide and customers should work out the correct payment to cover the extra interest. The person I spoke to was quite rude. I have never come across a company that works like this. I have had my card for 10 years and expected a better service than that.0

If you've have the card for 10 years then you should know the drill by now, especially if you're paying the minimum.
If you've been charged an overlimit fee then you must have been spending thinking that the amount you pay is the amount you had on the account forgetting that interest would of been applied after the payment.
Your best bet is to get some of the debt paid of or if thats not an option put the card in a safe place so you don't spend on it until a portion is paid off on it.
I can understand your frustration with the guys in the centre, but they're right in saying its your duty to be a bit more vigilant in checking how much is owed & payments going out and dates when the payments clear.0 -

just because you've had a bad experience it doesn't mean anyone else will, ive got an mbna card and ive had no issues0 -

I'd call them back. If you've been a customer for so long and have never had any problems before, it's not really in their interest to lose your business. Perhaps explaining again that you've made a mistake and are looking for some help with the charge you've incurred would help. It doesn't hurt to ask (nicely!)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
