I have been looking at an HSBC on line e-ISA for my Iceave compensation money, but HSBC inform me I cannot pay more than the 3,600.00 limit into an e-ISA, only into a normal ISA (with my certificate) which of course pays less interest. Is this because they have no way to verify on line that the funds have come from Icesave - what about a scanned copy of the certificate sent by email? Has anyone else managed to pay more than the yearly limit into an e-ISA ?? I too have my money in a bank at the moment until I can find out more about re-investing it!

Transfers-in from external ISAs (Icesave or other) aren't offered with the HSBC e-ISA ( linky), so you'll need to shop around for another ISA that allows transfers.

Suggest that you read through the following post (scroll down to see those Cash ISAs which accept inward transfers) - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=4603369&postcount=1

Is anyone having problems with this lot? I sent all the necessary paperwork ten days ago and so far nothing has happened. The on ly contact no. I have found is 0161 755 7935 which is the reception area of the building. You have to ask for a named person. I was put through to Samamtha Huntingdon (team leader) but the phone just rings and rings. I cannot cancel this as they have my ISA certificate. Would appreciate any help on this.

Have to thank you for the number, I got given a different one for the same building and got an annoyed person who told me to contact my branch who despite two contacts have done nothing. So tried your number, asked for Central Tax Unit, got transfered to another department "two floors below" but lo and behold this unbelievably helpful woman has fixed it so I can deposit a 'new' cheque into my ISA at any RBS branch. Mind you I haven't tried it yet, but am now armed with RBS emails saying I can. I got the distinct impression the CTU is snowed under with Icesave ISA transfers, and are virtually uncontactbale even from two floors below, however, disgraceful shambles really. I still don't know if my first cheque has arrived. Sorry the number didn't work for you might be worth persevering though.
  • Has anybody's Icesave cash left their linked account yet?

I completed an Isa transfer form with the RBS 11th December and took my cheque book with me just in case they needed a cheque. The young lady was very helpful but had to telephone their head office for advice. She was told that a cheque was not needed as it would be done with a BACS transfer. I was a little concerned as the form asked for the Isa provider which I gave as Icesave although had to give my linked account number (these would not marry up as my linked account is not an ISA provider). Another question asked if I wished to transfer all, which I did but not all from my linked account, I would have DD's bouncing all over the place. I wrote the amount next to the question. A photocopy of my certificate was taken and that was it, very easy. I have since had a letter confirming my new ISA account details but check daily to see if the money has gone from my linked account, it hasn't and I am pretty sure it will still be there in a month's time.
  • I'm having the same trouble with Natwest (same group) except once the account was opened I tried transfering my ISA balance in. They allowed £3600 but put the rest in my current account (£28000) and say I'll have to wait, which I'm not happy about. I dont think they know what they are doing

Just had mine set up by IF, very quick and easy, they even phoned me to check all the details and had it back up and running within two days of sending them the certificate.

  • I got my money back before end of November just as Governmrnt said. Only problem was I couldn't re-invest it in an ISA as I had to wait nearly 3 weeks for the ISA certificate. Good news was that N Rock honoured my previous application to transfer to their fixed rate ISA at 4.9% even after it had been taken off the market. Interest is compounded.
