We'd love to put our money in a Nationwide Cash Isa - but despite both of us being borrowing and savings members for many years, and for that matter still being savings members, this institution will not accept a transfer in.

So much for loyalty to its members - it might as well be a bank with shareholders!

my OH didn't get the form either. We did get it printed off in the branch though.

Ah, that's useful to know. Mind you, my branch....
We've now received our certificates woo hoo, so will be telephoning them tomorrow to make an appointment for Tuesday. Wish me luck! Will report back as soon as I can!

Great stuff. Yes, let us know.

Really? Is that an Icesave thing, or have they made it a general condition now? I'm a long-standing member too, and transferred one in from Abbey to a fixed rate last April...

It wasn't as easy as I made it sound lol as I said in a previous post, the numpty thought 'Icesave ISA' was the name of a new Halifax ISA. Give me strength:rolleyes: I'm hoping that by telephoning for an appointment and telling them what we'll be wanting to do that they'll have read up on everything and will know what to do......won't be counting on it though ;)

I'm sure it would be best to send everything off by post but to be honest I'm concerned about sending the holy grail (the certificate) in the post.....daren't let it out of my sight!

I got so frustrated last week in the branch and OH kept putting his hand on my knee to calm me down lol I used to work in a building society and we'd print off stuff like this Icesave stuff and have all the info to hand in a personal folder. This is stuff that should be covered in their half hour morning training once a week. OK it's going back a fair few years now but still.....the info is all there but the staff just can't be bothered because they may never be asked the question. Hang on....that's it am jumping off the soap box :o

Its buried in the small print for ISA's and not Icesave only.

Really hadn't heard that till now; glad you mentioned it.

From what they're saying it's temporary. Would it be worth finding a home for the funds for 3 months or so, and seeing if the situation's changed by then, before the 5 Apr deadline to reinvest? -- or are you too hacked off with Nationwide by now :(

Nope - I haven't had that one, but I remember seeing the post that you mention of the £1 opening balance. Not sure how that will square with HMRC if it means you have subscribed £3601 this year. Maybe that's why Halifax paid it?

Rewinding slightly -- by accident just came across the post we remembered, about the Halifax £1.

We have done (or are doing) that now - yes I would go to NW if they allowed me to transfer into a decent fixed rate, but I do not see that happening.

Not too painful experience in-branch with Halifax FRISA shocker!

I went into a branch armed with my Icesave Certificate and chequebook (plus assorted peripherals) today. Spoke to the same blokey who a week ago told me that there was no such thing as the 60 day rate promise. Today, after I had explained how this was a transfer-in and that it was different from a normal transfer-in he conceded that he didn't know what the procedure was and asked me what the ISA centre had told me on the phone. Having recounted this, he took my FSCS certificate off to a manager, took a photocopy of it and returned my original. They reckoned that there was no need for a transfer form to be completed. I pushed the point about the rate guarantee and gave him a copy of the ISA Promise which he took and said he would send 'up' with the copy of the FSCS certificate. I then paid the cheque in at the cashiers. No passbook provided - just a receipt.

I have already sent back my inappropriate declaration letter, so now I will just mail back my Icesave Customer Authority (ISATF) in the prepaid envelope with a note saying why I haven't sent an ordinary transfer form and hopefully that will be that. I also got the branch to stamp question 2 on the ISATF as back-up evidence that they have received the certificate.

    Fingers crossed :)
