Where Are You Transferring Your IceSave ISA's To?

Hi
Been out of the loop on this one for a couple of weeks, but my certificate arrived today so I need to get it sorted.
I noticed a couple of replies about the Halifax but Im guessing these were when the rate was higher and the ones depositing now opened it at the higher rate.
So where is the best place now for around £10k in a cash isa?
thanks

Not too painful experience in-branch with Halifax FRISA shocker!
I went into a branch armed with my Icesave Certificate and chequebook (plus assorted peripherals) today.
Well done KingL, that sounds very promising for you.
I'm seriously wondering now if my logic (sending the original certificate to Leeds, where the Icesave-specific form came from) is flawed.
I was doing it this way because of some others' reported experiences in branch, so it seemed a reasonable idea to send it back to the horse's mouth so to speak, to the people who'd sent me the proper forms and apparently knew about it, and were expecting it. The covering letter also says '... please send the certificate and authority form to us in the pre-paid envelope enclosed ...'
But it does mean mailing the original certificate and once it's gone, it's gone... though I've kept a couple of copies. I'm now waivering! -- the envelope's not gone yet, as I was going to send it Special Delivery this afternoon.

Today I applied for the Kent Reliance BS Direct one year fixed rate ISA - issue one which pays 4.5% p.a. I phoned them first and was advised that they will be withdrawing this issue on Friday. I printed the application form at http://www.krbs.co.uk/ICESave.aspx - this is for former Icesave ISA customers. I was advised to send the form, cheque and certificate by first class post. They also said that they bank all cheques on the day of receipt and interest will be paid from the same day.
I was initially interested in the Manchester BS premier ISA issue 3 which also pays 4.5% fixed but when I tried phoning them I got an answerphone message every time so I gave up.0 -

Halifax ISA transfer all done and dusted today. hopefully. I don't know why but I'm just not filled with confidence. Shall I just leave out the part where the woman who dealt with us didn't even look at us as we said 'is that it then' and kept tapping on her machine? ok.
Anyway....we saw the same lady that we saw last week. We got off on the wrong foot whan I told her I already had a copy of the certificates.....that was the wrong thing to say for some reason!
She printed out the instructions and opened a new ISA for me then had to reverse the transaction and just credit my amount with the roll number I'd already been given on the phone/by post. She made a note on the account that it was a one year fix at 5% (beginning to think we should have fixed for longer but that's another story)
So we left her with our cheques, ISATF's and a signed declaration form and toddled off with our receipts in hand. I guess we just sit back and wait for Halifax ISA certificates now then.
I'm so relieved that it's finally all over and done with!0 -

Wow, two interesting branch experiences for you in the space of a week
Can you stand the excitement?
Well, I dithered and dithered yesterday with mine... mail or branch, branch or mail. Finally went with Plan A to mail, so we'll see. Depending on the outcome, and also whether OH is ever sent an Icesave ISATF form as requested, I may dip a toe into the branch pool again and see if they can find one to print off for him, as yours did, so we can get him sorted too.
Haven't checked today yet but, though it's displaying as funded, my accounts online yesterday were showing the straightforward non-Icesave 'new money' FRISA which I took out for this year marked as still 'Awaiting Details', so non-viewable -- they had everything back for that middle of last week. Must be working through a backlog... as you say, sit back and wait. But getting there slowly hopefully.
Good luck then, and thanks for letting us know how you got on.~cottager0 -
cottager you're welcome. Good luck with it all. If you do decide to go back to the branch for the ISATF, it seemed to be an attachment with their instructions on the intranet. Can understand why you'd rather wait for it in the post though0

I signed up for a Halifax 5% fixed rate 1 year ISA over a week ago.
It's now just appeared on my account online at 4% (!)
I will be phoning them and asking why this is and telling them to stuff it if they don't honour the rate it was when I opened it.0 -

Your lucky, mine hasn't appeared anywhere yet just phoning to chase it and I'm told that there is a 10 to 14 day backlog before things even get scanned onto the system owing to the massive demand from ex Icesave ISA customers. The lady did say that all moneys will be backdated"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
