Not very impressed with the Energy Tracker. Jan gas usage changed from -30% to +20% and Feb gas usage changed from -30% to -20% Looks like they've got some chimps pressing buttons at random.

    Hi grumpycrab

I'm sorry you don't like our Energy Tracker.

The Tracker is a graphical display of usage and is based on the meter readings used for billing. It shows the average daily usage based on these readings.

Estimates are used where we don't have actual readings but this can be corrected later if you give us the correct readings and ask for a re-bill.

Daily averages are worked out by dividing the amount of kWh used by the number of days billed.

Please be aware, these are averages only and are not the last word in usage info. They are designed to give an indication of how your consumption is going compared to the previous year.

Did you previously have an estimated/inaccurate bill which has now been re-billed accurately? If this was the case, then I suspect this is the reason your figures have changed.

Hope this helps a little grumpycrab. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Thanks for your reply. EON Energy Tracker has ignored my monthly meter readings until the bill has been issued which is not good enough. I've been through this with EON and they're changing the Energy Tracker system...so we're all wasting our time. I'll wait to see what they come up with.

Apart from price, Energy Tracking is the next most useful thing as far as I'm concerned and if EON cannot put together a useful AND RELIABLE system, minimising customer effort, then I'm going somewhere else.

Any other cos. doing good energy tracking systems?

    Hi grumpycrab

At the moment, this is correct. Our Energy Tracker only picks up meter readings used for billing and produces averages based on these.

Readings given in between bills are not always reflected in the graphs. This is noted on the website.

You're also correct about improvements planned for the Energy Tracker.

We are always looking for ways to improve the website in general and upgrades to the Tracker will form part of this ongoing development.

Customer feedback forms an important part of this development.

What is it you particularly want to see on the Tracker? If you let me know the sort of info you are looking for I will gladly pass this on to the relevant people.

Again, I'm sorry the Tracker is currently not to your liking but if you give me an idea of the sort of things you are looking for I will do my best to help. Please use the email address in my Profile if you prefer.

No problem grumpycrab. Let me know if you change your mind.

As I say, we are always looking for customer feedback - both good and bad.

In fact, if anyone else has any comments about the Tracker, or the website in general, please feel free to let me know, either on the forum or through my email address.

We have previously found the tracker a great help, but recently have got VERY fed up with it - so much so that today I looked on MSE and found this thread.
I really find it hard to believe that Eon have not sorted this out after all this time- averaging is no help to those who post monthly figures. We know when we are on holiday, when we have visitors and when it's cold etc and expect the tracker to reflect this.
Our tracker now says we were up for Aug and Sept when we know we were down, hardly helping us to save...
I have called and was told there was a glitch inthe tracker, but having read the thread I now doubt the veracity of that comment, my faith in Eon's tracker and therefore the company is diminishing by the day.
An up to date reply from Malc would be much appreciated

As a slight aside I was invited the other day to comment on their proposed new billing format. It was incredibly bad. I doubt they'll be sorting the tracker out for some time...

I hope they're also going for the "chose which winter months you want a discount for" plan which they pushed around for review a few months back, although this will probably be way to complicated to implement.

I hope their customer feedback isn't being totally ignored...
