Have a look at the Royal Mail website rictus - you can put in the weight and it will tell you how much postage will be. Then be sure to add enough to cover packaging materials too :)

Thats assuming you have scales, if not you really should get some before listing much. Just a cheap set of kitchen scales will do :)

welcome too, thundercat [great name!] you will get all the support and help you need on here... good luck and hope you do well!

Thanks for the warm welcome mrscmr :D

I listed 16 items earlier this evening with a load more to go on tomorrow

I have decided to list all my CD's and books on Amazon, as, like others I find they sell better on there than they do on eBay.

In an ideal world I'd like to make £2,000 from my wares by the end of the year thus being able to clear my evil Lloyds TSB credit card balance (£1,800) which has been hanging over me like a bad smell.

Good luck to all my fellow eBay challange participants. Keep the faith (and the money rolling in:p).

Personally I would charge between £2.75 - £3 postage for that Fred Perry top thats 2nd class recorded.

Most tops cost me around £2.60 or so to post 2nd class recorded so that should be adequate.

I charge roughly £1 on top of all postage to cover packaging unless its something really cheap to post

Just popping on...I'm shocked at the postage you lot charge!

I charge 15p on top of the actual postage. I never use recorded (if lost I claim against the PO). If it is an expensive item i.e. over £36 I use a courier service.

Have only had 5 lost items in many years and only 2 which I would consider genuine.

And extortionate postage costs is the reason why eBay are bringing free p&p in.

Might try adding a bit more on to mine but always feel guilty especially when the postage is 6 times the actual price of the item!

I always add a max of 50p on to my postage to cover the cost of the bags I buy, the printing of labels, time to get to post office etc. I always have a look to see what similar items postage costs are as well.

On the rare occasions I buy from eBay I always take in to account the postage cost as it affects the max I am prepared to bid or pay for an item so I assume other people will do the same when bidding for my stuff

Very excited... listed a pair of nine west shoes and they received a bid straightaway of £3.99. Usually anything I've been listing recently doesn't get bids until the last couple of hours or even seconds in some cases!
