Watch your profits though. Assuming your postage is only actual (so cost of stamps and envelope only) you will pay 5p FVF on a 50p item but about 28p to paypal..and you have to ask whether it is worth your time for 18p. I still see people with near 'actual' postage but 1p items selling which makes them a loss due to the paypal charges.

Also always check out completed listings to see if items sell well..

sazzab, what magazines are you listing? :) i have some vogue ones but they're not that old.

slowlyfading I've got piles and piles of free mags that come with the newspapers, going back to about 2003ish. Weekend magazine (Daily Mail), ES mag (Evening Standard), MetroLife mag (Evening Standard) a couple of Observer mags. I didn't know what was up there until I started going through them to be honest. It would free up so much room if they do start shifting. I've listed them all at 1p start. Wasn't sure about doing this as they used to sell quite well but they are old now. It's a bit of a gamble, one has a bid on already but if there's only one person interested then it'll be a long old slog for me to get to my target lol.
I'm hoping that I get a couple of people interested and see how it goes. I may put the next ones up with a start of 50p though. I'll be patient and see.

I did sell some Vogues once but they were very specific ones that I knew people were after - I think a Gillian Anderson one. When one came out like that I'd make sure I would buy 4 or 5 of them and then sell them a few months later. Used to work well but I'm not doing that anymore and you have to be confident they're going to sell.

Have you done a search on completed listings to see if the copies you have have sold recently and for how much? It might give you an idea.

Hope this helps a bit. Might be worth looking at some of the sunday's today - I'm sure I heard an ad last night saying the Observer (possibly) had a decent mag in it today with something on the film Withnail and I. That's the sort of thing you need to look out for. Something that is a definate 'collectible' to a fan but something that someone not in this country can't get hold of. You do have to be prepared to do international shipping though as 75% of your posts will be abroad.

    Sal

** Just been and had a look, it's the DVD they're giving away but it might be worth checking the mag too, I'm sure I heard there's a big thing about the film. The free DVDs you get do not tend to sell well on ebay though - from my experience anyway.

Ggggrrrr, one of items is £15 off the reserve price with only a few minutes to go. The other 3 items have sold for a good price but really need this item to go because it is large and bulky and taking up space under my bed :rotfl:

Yeah, sure it is Floxxie. We hear you.

Think you're right that it's better to shut up completely for the hols as people just won't read it, or they'll be too thick to understand it. I do still have a friend working with me, but there'd be so much stuff to move to her house, several car loads, plus all packaging materials etc that it would be far too much hassle. Plus, she'd need access to the emails and I use the business email for loads of personal stuff too, so I'd need to change all that. I did think about it, but only briefly!

    How's you anyway?
