Anyway I think it pppretty much goes without saying that the rich spend the most at Xmas. Whether people spend at Xmas has little to do with how wealthy thay are, some poor spend a lot, some rich spend a lot some poor spend nothing some rich spend nothing. Plus the Farepak people did not get in debt. They just budgeted sensibly over a year.
Presumably you believe people who pay their bills by direct Debit are also nuts?

Me and your OH have similar DNA. Christmas is the biggest marketing ploy ever devised. Nearly everyone falls into the trap.

    Bah Humbug!

OH is Jewish, born in Israel, and not a Christmas fan

and that has to do with this? of course not. as i said at the begining i just dont understand these type of schemes where its just as easy to put abit aside yourself each week/month to save for something than getting involved in companies such as farepak. and as normal the ppl who get involved with such schemes are probably the ppl who can afford it the least. and how sad it is that ppl like that feel like they have to use money that they probably cant afford just so they can keep up with what society deems is the norm.

Like I said there are many reasons, for example if you are on means tested benefits and you save in a bank over £6,000 the government just pockets your savings, so only a super-mug would put the money in a bank and have 90% of their capital confiscated.

Even billionaires don't pay those rates. Those people are being finiancially asstute, more so than the smart mugs who invested in houses or shares for example, or local authorites paying fiiancial advisors for 'the best advice'.

What was the point of Farepak though? Why not just put it in a bank account then it would be protected?

It was supposed to be protected in Farepak too, covered by a guarantee, same as with a bank. :xmassign: Not long to go now!!
