never understood why ppl bother to put money away in things such as farepak.why bother cant ppk just put abit of money aside each month instead of having to give it to some group. cant they trust themselves not to spend it? sad that ppl get caught up in commercialism of xmas when they prob havnt set foot in a church since they were kids.

was there some sort of compensation body to cover this sort of thing? if not then you cant really compair with banks/savings. and the money that is involved

People use such schemes for a wide variety of reasons, I am sure they would consider the way you spend some of your money hard to comprehend,
putting it in a foreign bank for example.

I expect the people with Icesave spend cosiderably more on Xmas, all reguular church goers no doubt.

There was some sort of industy protection scheme in place, sadly it was inadaquate,
but adaquate enough for the advertising anyway, I believe the current solution is
to give it a new name.

Futhermore it was advertised as a savings scheme (you can sak the advertising
standards people why they allowed that, I doubt they will even bother to reply).

You should have had your Farepak money back too by rights.
  • Christmas?! Getting a bit ahead of yourself there.

    Please don't!

My OH gets grumpier and grumpier as Christmas gets close (he loathes it altogether) and I don't want him to start now!

Me and your OH have similar DNA. Christmas is the biggest marketing ploy ever devised. Nearly everyone falls into the trap.

    Bah Humbug!
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

is that while they have accounts with foreign owned banks like abbey, and savings with ING. funny how ppl think everything is UK owned because it doesnt have a funny foreign sounding word in their title.

last pay out i made was new car in march so not to strange to comprehend

nope dont spend a penny at xmas.stupidly its normally ppl who dont have 2p to rub together that get caught up in the whole xmas thing. thinking they have to spend loads and get in debt so they can keep up with what society thinks they should do on december 25th. why ppl are daft enough to get drawn into the whole fakeness is beyond me

Would it be appropriate for Martin to give the £000s he has recieved from the Icelandic banks to Farepak victims ..

.. its Christmas soon .. and would seem fitting that the only winners from his unfortunate advice were those who were fleeced and got nothing back

(I am not a farepak victim myself I may add ... just thought it was disgraceful treatment they got from HSBO)

Its Christmas soonish as I say.
