ICICI Bank

Why does ICICI website crash almost continually.
For an "internet only" savings bank this is equivalent to a high street branch that has its doors locked and cashpoints saying 'out of order'.0 -
Indian people are wise with their money.
The Internet bank unlike other banks do not buy server and connectivity to deal with a peak in demand but just 10% over normal demand.
That means when there are more people than normal accessing the website it goes slow.
India has not boomed the same way as Western Countries because the general ethos is to spend only money you have. Although this view is changing now and loans are much more popular in urban areas, rural areas and the 40+ generation still prefer to save and spend only when they have to.
India seems a safer bet than other banks to me.0 -
I couldn't even get the page to open, all I wanted to do was try my new password and check my balance.0

It is not the ICICI site that is necessarily crashing in every instance. The internet in general is being overused, what with people watching TV, downloading videos, internet based telephony etc etc. There are times when the internet is overloaded, and at such times, you may get the impression that the website is crashing/unobtainable. Yesterday about 9.00 pm, I was having extreme difficulty in getting to any site.....Illegitimi non carborundum
...don't let the illegitimate ones grind you down....0 -
I don't have a similar problem with HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds etc.
ICICI do not instill a great amount of confidence. An internet only bank should have better/bigger servers than their high street equivalent - afterall that is how their customers service their accounts.0 -

I just logged in no problem, excepting it being a bit slow.0

I will shortly be starting a thread called "OMG, the run on HSBC is starting!!!", just so that I will be able to say 'I told you so' if it ever happens.
That's exactly the sort of motivation that drives irresponsible media reporting and _does_ start runs on banks.
Thankfully your readership is rather limited.
ICICI's exposure to British savers is infinitely lower than Icesave or KE so even if there was a run by UK moneysavers, it wouldn't have anywhere near the same impact I would imagine.0 -
My neighbour works in a bank-related IT company and he tells me that ICICI has the most **** computer system of any British bank!0
