I sincerely hope that you are not vindicated. Each time one of these banks fails it spells disaster for their depositors, their employees and the population at large. So please do not be smug in the hope of being proved right. You should further understand that as these banks require taxpayer bailout then your quality of existence will also be affected by this debacle.0

The Moodys rating for ICICI (UK) is a good Baa1.0

In time I shall be vindicated.
I will shortly be starting a thread called "OMG, the run on HSBC is starting!!!", just so that I will be able to say 'I told you so' if it ever happens.
That's exactly the sort of motivation that drives irresponsible media reporting and _does_ start runs on banks.
Thankfully your readership is rather limited.0 -
As has been pointed out many times, nobody has lost any money yet from this fiasco.
As for ICICI, Yesterday saw me transfer another £10,000 into my ICICI account.
It's no more at risk than any other bank/Bs, IT IS ALSO PROTECTED!
So to Zammo (Ithink the reason you cannot log in is because you havent got an account)----Up Yours & go and annoy somebody else.:)I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p0 -

I have an account with the ICICI bank that I have held for about a year. ICICI bank site has the following message posted this morning ".Dear Customer, Some of you may have experienced difficulties accessing our website on Friday evening (10th October, 2008). We have identified the cause to be related to certain internet service providers. During this period, whilst many of you were able to carry out normal transactions, we apologise for the inconvenience which may have been caused. We thank you for your understanding. Susan Baldwin, Head - Operations"
Clearly as Ms Baldwin writes that "many of you" were able to carry out normal transactions, some were not, so no wonder some Forum contributors are a bit worried.
I have to say that I have ALWAYS found their site slow and Friday was appalling. This morning was very slow too. I also find the explanation that "certain Internet Providers" somehow have picked on the ICICI bank to be difficult to comprehend, unless it is their own ISP.
For what it is worth, I have reasonable confidence in the bank, but their Internet service is unacceptable and, if I need to get on-line to transact any business, I can't afford to be on tenterhooks waiting for either their site to respond or my line to be dropped. If it is like this now, what would happen if there was a run on investors trying to withdraw.
As a result of their Internet service and not because of any particular fears, I have moved the bulk of my money to another bank with a decent on-line service until they sort their Internet banking response times out.0 -

Same here. I just called them. They say 'system problems, being worked on, try again in an hour'. Personally, I believe it.

I have £33k in here in a 1yr bond opened about 5 months ago, I could pull it out and face a penalty in loss of interest but I don't see the point in moving it out and putting into somewhere like the AA bond because as far I can tell they both have the same level of protection under the FSCS scheme with both being UK banks.
I see my money as safe in here as any other UK bank.0
