Having a great weekend so far, our food shopping has lasted us, and had a nice curry(hm) with oh last night. Sausage casserole later, instead of our usual roast.

Inspired by courgette again, I have been using reusable nappies a lot more, and I have only used 3 disposables in the last couple of days, I must keep this going. I am unsure if I can ask the childminder to use reusables, and if she is busy with many children, would she have time to change him as regularly as I do... I don't want him to suffer cause of me...

Anyway, I am going to visit our two local Churches this morning, and go to a service at one of them, and decide on a venue for the Christening. I have worked out that with our friends and ohs family drinking so heavily :) we would be better paying for food at a hotel/pub, and letting them buy there own drinks, rather than me do the food here and have to supply so much alcohol, and be on hostess duty all day!

A place where I could bring my own buffet that has a well stocked bar would be ideal, but I doubt I'm going to find it!

The baby has been a lot better, but still up in the night. I have entertained myself with thoughts of how I can make/save more money and here is my to do list:

    Attic:
SAVE:Check all plugs off, check babys clothing store upto 1 year and make sure I have all items he needs.DONE
MAKE:Ebay more stuff, put together a few bundles of 0-3 clothing to sell/ freecycle some junk, and ask for needed stuff off freecycle

    Bedrooms:
Save: check heated towel rail plug timer correct/check through presents stock and assign all birthday and xmas presents for the year.
    Make: sell old gold

    Living/dining room:
Save: switch off a radiator/ check energy saving bulbs in all lamps.
    make:Ebay more stuff

    Kitchen:
save: meal plan for bulk use of cooker, and then reheat / bulk cook more baby food - ask neigbour to store in her freezer if neccessary/ stock up on hm freezer meals for return to work.
    Make: ebay more stuff

    Garden:
Save: repair shed roof myself and revarnish
make: ebay/freecycle stuff, plant potatos and lettuce, replant strawberries in planter, grow bedding and hanging plants from seed.

I have tutoring clients waiting for slots and I have a couple of slots so I could phone them. I also need to do exercise, clean the house and do some marketing work today. Right, must get on with it!

Well I have been doing quite well with my list. I sold an old chain yesterday for £40, and I sold another 6 items on ebay. I have also returned a pair of dungerees that don't fit earthlet with his real nappies and got some stretchy trousers instead. I have complained about a matress protector that I got off amazon and they'll give me a full refund and gave me a postage label too! I took some cash to the post office (as my local branch closed:( )and when that clears I'll over pay it.

I collected the toy from the ebay seller it is great condition and worth about £40 new - I felt a bit bad giving her £2.08. I was really tempted to give her more, but then I thought I wouldn't have bought it if I was offered for more, so I didn't.

I have booked the Church for babys Christening in June, before I start marking, so I need to finalise plans for the party afterwards.

My friend is coming around with her baby to play, hopefully we'll get out for a walk, and then I need to post back the mattress protector, the last ebay parcel and collect a baby walker from a freecycler. Finally I have a private tuition client at 4.15pm. I would also like to sort the birthday and christmas presents out for the year if i get chance. Right, off I go..

Errr, not really, all of that took my two days instead of one!

So all of that is done BUUTTT I made a stupid impulse buy - a email group purchase thing - sure you know what I mean, for laser hair removal for £99 for 5 sessions. When I went for it today I discovered I needed to upgrade or it wouldn't really be what I wanted, so I had to pay another £175 :eek::eek::eek:

I didn't know what to do, so I paid the money, thinking that its better to have the right result in the end. I have researched it a bit, and the girl was right, I did need to spend more, but I hate to feel pressured into stuff. Anyway, it was still a good price compared to what else I could have got.

Right, off to make £275 on ebay :o

Couldn't sleep much last night for worrying about my impulse buy. I didn't have nmuch time to post yesterday, but basically I had to pay the 'upgrade' by cash, despite asking for a receipt I couldn't have one, and it was all very unprofessional and dodgy. Still as long as I get the result I need in the end, thats the main thing I suppose. I can use the money that my mum gives me for xmas and birthday for this, and 'get it' off oh for birthday and Christmas too, that way it won't really affect our finances - and I have wanted to try it for 5 years!

Right, this weekend I can get ebaying again. I have decided to group more things together and sell in bundles, and do some larger items for collection to see if that gets rid of them!

  • If it makes you feel any better earthgirl my best friend had this treatment done as she used to have to wax her top lip, chin and the side of her face....she has polycystic ovaries. This treatment really helped her and now she only has to wax her top lip and the hair is really fine and not noticable.... she is so happy.

  • I've been wanting to try it too, but don't feel able to justify the expense. I have been thinking of buying the machine from boots that had a great write up.

I agree it sounds as though the transaction was a little dodgy, but if it is going to be what you want, then it is probably not that risky. Sounds a reasonable price, and you will not begrudge it when it is working.

Let me know how you find it. I might try and save up for something similar if it makes a difference.

I wish I had the time and energy for more tutoring. I'm really tempted to take on another tutee perhaps on a Friday pm...but then I teach 5 lessons on a Friday and given how poorly I've been I can't help but think I'd just be taking on too much.

But then it would be an extra £300...hmmmm....
