Had a lovely but a little expensive weekend. It was my mums birthday, so I went up for the weekend - it was lovely to see her and my brother. My brother was suppose to split the cost of a spa afternoon with me, but on the day he was going to pay me, he didn't have enough money. I am a little annoyed, but only £60 down, so not too bad. Any obviously if he hasn't got the money then I don't mind helping - its just a bit irritating!

On the plus side, I've made 5 draft excluders and they are really nice, even OH likes them!

I've got MIL and friend visiting tomorrow, and then I'm taking them into North Wales - where they are staying in a hotel, I'm camping. Managed to find loads of old camping gear in my mums loft, and also managed to find a really thick blanket to go under our bedding and make our bed warmer.

I have cleaned, shopped and cooked so my to do list now is:

    · Check gala bingo payment received and then close account Done
·get my airmiles card and OHs airmiles card feeding into the same account.DONE
-Get a shell card to collect airmiles and register online
-register my tesco card for airmiles. and merge 2 clubcard accounts 0800 591 688 Done
    · check isas transferred and make an appointment with A&L to close all accounts try calling first - 0800 0686069 DONE
-Cancel all credit cards not being used.DONE
    - set up new dds for credit cards.DONE
-send off old gold again- last packet was returned, company had moved!!!
-reassess life and mortgage insurance (critical illness cover and decreasing term mortgage insurance, see MSE guide)

    · add adsense adverts on tutoring website Done
    · find a source of free manure - farms, stables.DONE
    · Grow hanging basket plants from seed, and try to get seeds off current pansies/ sweetpeas and grow for pots next year. Done
·Get house ready for winter (finish lining curtains with fleeces)DONE

    Daily

    · Spend 6 hours per day on small business promotion work.
    · Mystery shopping -check daily for convenient jobs
    · Pigsback – save up vouchers for Christmas

    Weekly

    · Promote tutoring website (2 hours per week)
    · Promote tutoring service more within the area
    · Maintain allotment – 2 hours

In particular tomorrow I want to:
    - finish hoovering
    - assemble the lasagna
    -make soup
-plant more seeds at the allotment
    -dig up potatos
    - print off tutoring resources
    - complete two tutorings

And do some small business work if I can!

  • Are you asking me to grope around in the mud to feel the size of my spuds?! That's not a bad idea actually... neighbours think I'm barmy anyhoo! Maybe after holidays I'll do a little investigation into spud size and make an educated guess!

Had a lovely few days away in North Wales - capel curig and surrounding areas. One lovely walk but the rest of the time MIL wanted to do touristy things - not my cup of tea!

Anyway, broke even on the trip as MIL and friend gave me money for petrol and took me out for food to say thanks for driving them around.

Nice to have my house and my time back to myself though.

OH and I plan on doing a BBQ tonight, instead of going out. Will try to get more things crossed of my list, and need to add a few things to it for today:

    - hang new curtains made for attic room to cut down on drafts:T
    - ironing and more ironing:eek:

Depending on the weather tomorrow I'm going to either weed allotment or do small business work.

Promoting my tutoring website for a few hours has really made a difference had three calls in the last few days and someone has booked 50 lessons :j WOW!

  • Thanks for the advice... we're very much trial and error with the veggie patch this year but have enjoyed eating what has worked... can only improve for next year!

Well done on the website promotions - really paid off with a 50 lesson booking! Smashing! :)

Yesterday I did my ironing, and did a lot of tidying at the allotment. I must find manure this week, and dig over some beds. I have hung upp some curtains in the attic, and need to think of ways to reduce the draught from the attic in winter.

Have been doing some soul searching recently - quite a lot of time wandering around in North Wales nd being at the allotment has helped. I've been pondering why I am always either so nostalgic about the past or wanting to change the future.

I mean that sometimes I wish I was doing some of the things I used to do, with some of the people I used to do them with (thinks like, climbing, walking, camping, free camping, city breaks, holidays, being by the sea or lakes, reading for hours, exploring - nothing 'funny'!). And other times I wish I could change the future (i.e. pay off my mortgage, work part time, have a holiday home or move by the sea..)

I think everybody has hopes and dreams for the future - especially on this board, but my problem is nostalgia, and I figure its because I don't do enough of the stuff I love. Working all the time, and in particular, OH working all the time means I don't do any of the things I used to love doing. If I'm not careful it will make me resent how things are, and I don't want to do that I want to enjoy life!

So I have decided to try and fit in more of the things that I love reguarly, even though most of the time I'll have to do them on my own -although I might look into joining an outdoors club - at least I'll be happier instead of so wistfull! I'm sure more activity and relaxation will help me sleep as well, its just not healthy working all the time.

So I'm going to make a start by going for a nice long walk (good for fitness too). I will then try and do things outside as the weather is so lovely, wash my car and read my book. Normally I would work inside, making myself do promotion work, but it can wait, I need to have a life too!:j

My grocery spening has gone completel haywire in August. I have spent £20 on normal groceries, £30 on food for when I had mil and friend over, and another £20 on groceries yesterday. I need to get a few bits for going away to Staithes with my friend, but apart from that and fruit and milk each week, I vow to spend nothing more on groceries, and have a store cupboard / freezer meals.

Despite having a relaxing day, I am going to have a quick peak at my list and see if there is anything quick that I can do...;)

I know what you mean though...I've very nostalgic and long to change my future too! I hate living where I live (as does my OH) but currently we are powerless to do anything about it. It's not the area as such we hate...more the city! We'd like to live somewhere a bit more out in the sticks. Ideally Canada! ha ha.

I'm just concentrating on getting our house nice for now and maybe that will make life easier...I'm struggling with living in a building site still...it's been 3 years now!
