 Thanks so much for the encouragement!

My OPs are steadfastly ignored by OH - Although the £8,000+ did raise an eyebrow!

I think he will see the benefit soon - he is getting into MS ways a bit, but until then I love coming on here and reading your comments - thanks!

I have had fab weekend away and it cost next to nothing, as we stayed on a sofa bed, and had bbqs etc. It was glorious, and has reminded me of why I am not wasting my money - I want to be free of the mortgage, and do the things I want to do, in the places I want to be, instead of chained to my desk!

Anyhow, that was a great start to my almost 7 weeks off school!

Today I have tidied the gardens and done 2 hours tutoring - I can now cash the cheque for 10 lessons as I am halfway through.

I have scribbled down my big projects list, but here's what I plan to do to hep my OPs in next few days:

    Tue
    1. Tidy house done
    2. Complete an overhaul of finances (incl. transferring ISAs to a high paying account, sorting out isa for this year, getting the best current account and closing others down.) done
    3. Free haircut at saks done
    4. Make extra OP:jdone
    5. 1 Tutoring in the evening done
    6. start small business work
    7. Cook stuff from allotment done
    Wed
    1. Tidy allotment and plant winter veg.
    2. Small business work

Well started at 9am yesterday to 'overhaul your finances' it is a great article and I try to do it every 6 months or so.

    I have saved:
    • £42 on sky over next 6 months - contract finishes in dec.
    • £5 selling a few cds
    • £? using save a flush bag
    • £? selling gold (tbc)
    • £? transferring isas to best account
    • £? getting the best numbers for international and mobile calls
    • £? 4 free flights to zone 1 with airmiles credit card
    Still to do:

    Now
    • Transfer money out of A&L account and close, to be opened again at some point in the future to get a promotion. Transferred money out, awaiting zero balance and will then close
    • Check google account for details of adsense adverts on tutoring website, and action. DONE
    • send off cds
    • send off gold DONE
    Later

End Sept - Shop around for electricity (cap ends)

22 dec - cancel HD on Sky account (we never use) try to get another discount on sports package.

    Hi All,

After all that organising and closing of accounts, plus counting up the pennies, 5s etc in drawer downsatirs, I have managed to squeeze another OP of £987! This brings Julys OP total to £9,287 (biggest ever!)

My mortage minus my savings (have a years salary saved just in case) is now only £42,000 (allowing for an on track endowment  ok last time checked).

Originally, when I came to the 'pay off your mortgage board', my mortgage was £100,000 (minus endowment).

I just can't believe the progress we have made - I feel quite emotional :j. Many thanks to all who have encourgaed and commented.

Off to allotment now, to grow some veg for the winter months.
