  • i agree with some comments made earlier. Having been through this process on quite a few occasions I believe you have to take a positive approach.

If you allow it to get you down in the months leading up to it, your work suffers and probably increases your chances of going anyway.

I have never seen a "R" situation where some people have not done well out of it. I have been through the last 2 times and came out with better jobs, although I remain philosphical in that at some point it will be my turn.

However, whether this time or next is mine there will be little I can do about it by making myself feel worse for the months leading up to yet another reorganisation.

You have the right ideas in place - no stupid spending decisions at the moment and knowing that everything you have been doing so far is the correct logical decision.

    Home
tidy up front of house - kill moss, plant some flowers (use voucher) ( 1hour) DONE
    Tidy back garden (2hours)DONE
Plant seeds for green house for allotment this year(2hrs)
finish tidying OHs part of attic.(1 hour) Done

That is good news; yes it will feel worse when others are made redundant, but that's life (again) these days, so try to rationalise it and don't get personal about it.

    Progress

Well I have done a lot on the business this week so far, including networking then a motivational talk last night (free).

I get a bit jealous of people who have loads of time to work on their businesses, as I really enjoy it, but have loads of other work to do as well!

Anyway the speaker mentioned work life balance and working effectively - always making sure that you are working on the thing that is going to get to the most business. Sound advice!

Today I'm going to do a bit of business work and try to tick a few things off my list!

    Money
    Complete banking
Overpay on Mortgage when I am in town for tutoring.

    Home
tidy up front of house - kill moss, plant some flowers (use voucher) ( 1hour)
    Tidy back garden (2hours)
    Clean car (30 mins)

If I don't do it now I will never do it!

    End of Feb update:

    Income -
    Still have a job!
    Tutoring going well
    Doing lots on business

    Outgoings
Managed to overpay £1000 and have £160 left in current account! Sould get paid soon.
Spending is going ok, tightening up.

The only problem I am having is terrible insominia. I sleep every other night at the moment for about 6 hours, and I don't get a wink of sleep in the middle - its horrible!

I am going to try for one more week with herbal remedies and trying to unwind. If it doesn't work I will go to the doctor next week. Health is the most important thing!

I seem to be most stressed about work (absent boss and loads of hassle) and the business - so I am going to try to break it down into bitesize chunks.

Off to read your diaries now to help me relax!

I think I mentioned before how I overcame this situation, you need to break what has become a habitual situation. While it may seem odd, try to have fewer hours in bed (for sleeping ;)).... basically this will mean you will sleep solidly rather than waking around 0200-0300 as you drift out of REM deep sleep. Try two weeks of bed at 2300 and up with alarm at 0500hrs, it should do the trick and you'll feel better for it because you'll get a solid block of sleep not an interrupted night.
