Thanks for the wishes. Despite me trying to be grateful and cheer myself up, going back to work was infact terrible.

I have been given awful classes, really awful, and I don't have a classroom, and I am teaching subjects I don't know anything about. Above all of that, I miss earthlet terribly, and really feel like I am not in the right place when I am at work.

So just to remind myself, my opportunities are -
    - improve my class management skills (this will be very hard)
    - use my organisational skils to get myself everything I need.
    - learn about these new topics.

Sorry wish I was more cheery!

That was exactly my problem when i went back after DS2, except i also had people telling me how rubbish my organistion and teaching was.

It is not long till the summer, so if you can just get back into a routine i am sure you will feel a lot better.

It is bound to be an awful shock to the system after enjoying all that time with Earthlet. Big hugs to you.

Are you working full-time, earthgirl? And how old is earthlet? (Sorry, I'm new to the board and am not up to speed with such things.) It's hard, but if you have to do it you will get used to it, and it will get easier. What topics have you got that you don't know? Are there books you can use to keep a chapter ahead of the kids? A good book that's specific to the syllabus can make all the difference in how much effort it takes to teach a subject where you're not a specialist.

Sorry to hear that earthgirl, it is the strangest feeling going back to work after maternity leave (and I only had 4 months!). Took me quite a while to feel like I knew what I was doing. Am sure if anyone can cope with the problems you mentioned, it'll be you. And the fact that you're trying to think of the opportunities straight away shows that you are being more positive than you realise.

    Only 2 days til weekend!

Thanks for the wishes again, I don't like coming on here to whinge, but sometimes things are a bit much to bear.

I have gone back full time, baby is 9 months. I am in the opposite situation to courgette, and my department is over staffed by 1 full person, so we all have to teach different things, Ive got IT, Child development and German (i'm a french teacher whos ok at German!)

Things did go slightly better as the week progressed. I chilled out a bit with my expectations, I have after all got the worst of the worst classes, and can only do my best.Earthlet just had that one bad day at nursery, and he seems to be doing really well now. I've managed to collect him and go to my tutoring clients, or they have come here, every night and Earthlet just plays and gets all his cuddles.

We have a good routine going, with15 mins of housework every morning, so I don't have to do it all at the weekend and can enjoy the baby!

I am also NOT GOING TO BRING ANY SCHOOL WORK HOME - I promised myself and my family this!!

This weekend I have banking to do, 21/2 hrs of tutoring, and a wee bit of housework. I also might list things on ebay but I want to spend lots of timme with my family.

    Hi all,

Things are going swimmingly again. Earthlet loves his nursery so much. I drop him off at 8.30 - 3.30 as its only at the end of the road. When I go and pick him up he is always smiling and laughing with the other children. The staff say he is great and such a smiler!!

Work is going much better as well. I have really got to grips with planning easy lesson for the lower ability classes and I'm even enjoying learning and teaching IT!!

I have not managed to do any housework on a morning this week, but I have done some website updates for oh's business, which is more importnant. I'll have to do the cleaning at the weekend but its swings and roundabouts I suppose!

I have also almost run out of baby food, and need to keep stocking the freezer.

Today and tomorrow I need to:

    - Bank tutoring cash
    - Get all school work done for next week.
    - do any tutoring planning

    Weekend:

    -3 1/2 hrs tutoring
    - cleaning
    - small business work.

I really want to get every penny going in the right direction - off the mortgage. To do this I need to

    - Drive the shortest distance to work, not around the bypass as it uses more fuel :(
-Not buy crisps at school (spent a whole pound on this this week!!)
    - rinse baby nappy wrappers at home (nursery want a new wrapper for every nappy)
    - use washable nappy liners at home (nursery won't use them)
    - express milk at work more often and only send one pouch to nursey (the second always gets thrown out.)
    - restock my cheap toilet paper
    - grocery challenge - use up freezer and store cupboards before I go to the shops.
    - Do lunch duty if available.

    Sure I'll think of more!

Well your encouragement really helps! Thanks.

Have got a few things sorted and lunch duty is available so I can do that 3 times a week and get paid and a free lunch.

Off to do some more planning and small business work, got to stay at school 'till 5.15 groan...
