Oh crikey, don't get me started on what a load of idiotic nonsense THAT idea was.

Hey! Let's actively encourage councils to cut public spending in real terms! What a great idea. Your rubbish will only get picked up once a month, and rats will infest the streets, but as long as you're paying the same as you did last year, who cares!! Right?

Westminster will have egg on their face ... sh1tting on their own doorstep there. Right in the City area.
  • How many of those councils are labour controlled and how many are Toey controlled?

    Just out of interest.

I don't know. I remember a report some time ago which I interpreted as the most efficient London borough o meeting its targets was also the lowest council tax, and Tory...was in Wandsworth? (this was prob 2006 ish). My father lives in a Tory London borough an has loads of rubbish collections.

I'm personally open to changes to rubbish collection. We have a wheelie colleted fortnightly for non recyclables and a little box for recycling....I'd sway them in a heartbeat, and force councils to collet everything recylable...plastic bottes etc, regardless of what area we are in. I think forcing us to deal with the rubbish we create helps me think about what rubbish I create. :o
