What a really nasty place this has become! Full of unpleasant Daily Mail types.
It has become totally about me, then me, followed by me.

This is the one of the best post I've seen started for a couple of weeks, I agree 100% with you and the majority of people who have contributed to the post.

People that can't make decisions for themselves, follow the herd and then blame everyone else when things go wrong have filled this forum up over the past few days.

I've never seen such vicious and reprehensible comments and posts ever, many directly targeted at many of us as well as Martin - people hiding behind the anonymity of a computer, wouldn't dare say such things in real life.

If it is so stupid to invest in a foreign bank why have the govt flogged us off to the Cloggies (and they don't even pay good rates).

Always amusing me how the lefties love to spit out "Daily Mail reader !" as if it's going to make anyone not of their political persuasion quake with anger and indignation. I happen not to read the Daily Mail on a regular basis, because I find it's style too 'in-your-face'. But if anyone accuses me of being a DM reader, I respond with "Thanks for the compliment." The lefties hate the Daily Mail so much because it says so many things that they would rather remained unsaid, and which appeal so much to the common sense and common justice instincts of Britain's silent majority -- the ordinary, decent, self-supporting, law abiding, tax-paying, white ethnic group.

I am sure there are plenty of "ordinary, decent, self-supporting, law abiding, tax-paying" people in Britain who are not part of the "white ethnic group" - why bring race into it?

I started to answer this but there is fundamentally so much to find offensive in this statement that it would take me all night and I can't be bothered to waste my evening.

    I will say three things.

1 I think you really meant 'men' and not 'group', particularly in the context of the Daily Mail's philosophy of life.
2 Interesting use of the word 'silent'. Many forums (MSE and otherwise - just look at the BBC's Have Your Say) seem to be completely dominated by people who self-select themselves into this 'group' whingeing on about how hard done by they are and how it is everyone else's fault!
3 I imagine most of the people who got us into this mess would fit most of the criteria you identify for your 'group' and we haven't seen much 'common sense' or 'common justice' knocking around there, have we?

Speaking of newspapers, had the Daily Express managed to go through the credit crunch without any articles to Princess Diana?

  • I think it is kind of ironic that Martin is getting a whole load of abuse while his site is still the best source of accurate up to date information for everyone caught up in the crisis.
