It was aimed at those who cease to think logically when they're upset. ie: people blaming Martin when a bank goes under.

What a really nasty place this has become! Full of unpleasant Daily Mail types.
It has become totally about me, then me, followed by me.
On the face of it, the Government and others are trying to do their best in a set of thoroughly difficult circumstances, particularly about Icelandic Banks and the usual crowd of Central Office apologists (although you'll note, not Central Office itself) have come here with there usual clever comments about how they know better and how stupid everyone else is. You are probably too young to remember that Governments of different stripes have also run into problems. Even some that they didn't cause.

The whole place has changed it's ethos from trying to help to happy to moan. Give it a rest, people. I presume you all saw it coming and took appropriate action.

I'm not sure it's worth trawling through all this ordure to find the people who are asking genuine questions and really need help anymore.

This is totally unfair. The ordure you say you see here is the result of a genuine financial crisis. People have lost literally thousands of pounds. They are angry about it, and they have every right to be.

People who do not have a great deal of experience in dealing with financial matters want advice. Although I have not any connection with any Icelandic bank, I was happy to play a small part in giving advice on the mechanism of the British compensation scheme, so that people caught in this crisis could avoid "NOW they tell me" syndrome. So it is not true that advice is not being given out.

I suggest you read some of the posts of the problems people are having.
You will get a far better idea of what is happening in this stinking country than you will by reading the Daily Mail.

I must admit that I would characterise the forum as being somewhat manic in the last few days. It was entirely understandable given the worry and concern a lot of people have over the fate of their money. It is true that it was somewhat irritating and even unpleasant when some people's postings seemed to be deliberately designed to up the temperature or even accidently did so when a little restraint and forethought would have prevented problems.

Thank you. I think you have made my point very well.

The Daily Mail is angry every day and it hates the country we live in.

That's fine, if that's how you too feel, carry on reading. But I wonder if you would be a little less angry and hateful if you expanded your choice of literature.

... and, of course, no one has lost anything thanks to the Government. Just a small point but one worthy of repeating.

The minute someone starts quoting the Daily Mail they lose all credibility. ;)

Its amazing how many times in the past I have heard someone refer to another person as a daily mail reader so watch out. Meaning they have read a line or two in the Mail so think they know it all.

All papers have their agendas but the Daily Mail seems to fit a certain type of individual very well.

Unfortunately in many ways this Forum is a mirror to what MSE.com has become....it's always someone else's fault

I know Martin Lewis is a throughly decent guy with the best intentions, but sometimes I think his campaigns go off track and are used by people to deliberately 'work' the system, plus the money saving ideas are often a godsend, but continually looking out for loopholes in the system, to basically cheat the system is not something to be proud of.

Creating an idea that is them against us, and we must do everything possible to get something out of the system cos we are owed it, is a sign of a society falling apart.

My Daily Mail reading parents were having a good laugh at the expense of Icesave/KE customers - serves them right for putting their money in banks run by Johnny Foreigner!

They soon changed their tune when I (foolish leftie Guardian-reading daughter) informed them that the majority of my savings were in both Icesave and KE...
