This is what they are saying on HUKD about the Packard Bell Netbook I posted earlier.0

I'm looking for a super cheap net book with internet access for my little girl. She is doing really well on education city and I'd like her to be able to go on it when I am studying. Anyone know of any deals?0

I've just bought a Zoostorm freedom refurbished mini laptop from Argos clearance bargains, sorry being new I can't post links but search and you will find it,
It looks pretty much brand new, 12 month warranty, spec is recorded correctly and £119 plus £3.99 postage!
Not great for an adult with big hands but perfect for kids, mine got it on the back of a great school report and I have to say for the price I am really impressed, so much so I registered and posted for the first time to let you know.0 -
Can you tell me what you think about the Asus 1001HA PC world have them reduced to £199 and i'm thinking of purchasing?0

I'd like to get one with a "proper" Windows package. Still not sure which one to go for. Had a look at Dell, are they any good? It needs to be cheap and cheerful, but won't break the first time she uses it.0

The general performance of 10" laptops are basically the same, as are the specs. There is no great speed difference between the Atom N270 processor and the Atom N450 - its just cheaper for Intel to make the newer N450. The main differences between the Netbooks are:
1. build quality / usability
2. battery life
3. OS ('Windows 7 starter' is a functionally limited version of Windows 7, and most don't like it)
MSI, Samsung, and Asus are all very usable.
If you want to save a lot of money, you can get these open box/returns, all with 12 month warranties:
MSI U100 (10", XP) for £150

MSI U130 10" (Win7 starter) £154

Samsung N130 (10", XP) for £180

Alternatively, you can get the 12" MSI U230 for $256:

The U230 will be much faster than the 10" netbooks, and much faster than the Compaq Mini 311c above for general usage. The MSI U230 has a 12" screen with a high resolution (1366x768), twice the memory, faster processor. It comes with an ATI HD3200 graphics card which is slightly lower powered than the Nvidia ION LE on the 311C, but I've used it to play 1080p video so it makes no difference. I use my U230 netbook more than my laptop strangely. Only drawback is the low battery life, which isn't an issue for me, as I'm rarely away from a power source when using a computer. Even trains have power sources, at least Virgin do.0 -
The u230 looks great for the price. However I went and got the acer ferrari one for £320. Better keyboard imo, only slightly smaller but a fair bit quicker. Even plays left for dead 2 and call of duty nice and smooth with a bit of tweaking. Couldn't do that on any other netbook! (apart from the alienware one)0
