:rotfl: Yeah...that's right...
I'd give up now if I were you...having had such bad financial advice , there doesn't seem to be much point hanging around here eh ?
You might up your post count ...0 -
As I said the details will emerge later, and it appears it only involves KE.

ok .. i may be completly thick but
uk banks protected money up to 35k save
iceland bank not protected money at risk ....
so i know lets put my money in icesave because they are offering a high intrest rate , stuff the risks involved .
it sounds like you went for greed over security
No Icesave was extensively promoted by none other than Martin Lewis himself as being fully covered on the first £35,000 by the UK Investors Compensation Scheme and had a UK office in Newcastle employing honest Geordies and was regulated by the FSA for its activities and proudly displayed that £35,000 was protected by the UK Investors Compensation Scheme.
I didn't transfer my money out of the country to Iceland. I placed it with a UK deposit taker licenced in the UK and protected by the FSA.
That is why I did not invest in ICICI who were not protected in this way at the time I moved my money to Icesave.
Check your facts before you choose to try and make yourself look clever by unsympathetically laying in to people who have lost access to nearly all their savings for the time being.
No doubt you have no savings or very few savings and that is why you clearly relish the idea of people who have them summarily losing them as a form of social equalisation and then enjoy having a go at them to add to their pain.0 -

emphasis mine.
I don't want to pick on you NGM, but if you did all the checks and Icesave appeared sound, how can you blame Martin. He probably did the same checks and more before recommending Icesave. What is happening today couldn't have been envisaged 1 year ago. It's a global issue and 'no one' (as in not one) person is to blame.0 -
Well why blame martin then. If you checked it out as you should and found it sound.
and besides martin forced him to do it the way he forces everyone to come online and post in this forum ,

They do say a little education is a dangerous thing
Well said!
The top of the rates league table is a roll call of failing banks!
How irrational can people's greed actually make them?
Are they the same people who wire money in response to Nigerian 419 email scams?
I suppose it doesn't help when "core regulars" like "isofa" dismissed people as "scaremongers" for sounding the alarm."If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

You on the other hand are up at 3am making post five thousand and something solely because you are a sad little loner with nothing better to do than to make yourself a self appointed forum guru who enjoys ticking off the non regulars, even when they have every possible reason and excuse in this case for being in emotional and financial distress as a direct result of using this website.
Why don't you think about the dreadful plight of people who have lost access to most of their savings (possibly permanently) rather than just sycophantically defending the owner of this website because it is clearly the only thing that you do in your sad and pathetic little life that gives it any form of meaning.
I agree with some of your sentiments, but your attack on another forum member and their PoV is pathetic - I've highlighted the bits that should make you hang your head in shame.

As one of the many people affected (with all of our mediocre savings in IceSave), you know who I blame..................... myself.
I am fairly financially astute, read all the promises coming out, knew about the two stage guarantee scheme and still left my savings with IceSave.
Why - Why were they there, why did I leave them - greed I guess. Best interest rate etc, availability for multiple accounts etc etc.
So read the tag, take a breath and some responsibility.

Its their disgusting filthy language I object to. Whatever people are feeling does not justify or mitigate using that kind of languageLiquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0 -
Thankfully it seems Icesave savers are safe.
I have no intention of resigning, its not really possible, I would have to close the site down and I think in the current climate its too important.
I also won't resign as I dont believe I did anything that could've been prevented or was inappropriate with the knowledge. I am sorry for the stress Icesave savers are in, and am working hard to help, but I believe i can hold my head up high with the info provided.
You can read a full explanation in my blog.
This thread doesn't really serve a point so i am going to close it - to allow more info giving threads to come to the fore.
