But principally it started in the UK and the USA where the culture of people at the top getting as much as they can out of a company in the good times and then suffering no financial penalty in the bad times appears to be at its peak.
The people who drive the decision-making, are not the "people at the top" - i.e. not the members of the board - but the international financier-oligarchy who own most of the stock, and get to choose the executives.

That oligarchy is global, but much of it is based in the UK and the USA...

The British and Dutch Crowns, and their aristocratic allies in the so-called Club of the Isles - are enormously powerful in the world of finance.

However they are shrewd enough to let the twerps in the boardrooms and in Westminster and Washington take the rap for their rapacious wrong-doing.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

    1. I had money in Icesave (note the past tense). I can't remember where I first discovered it's high interest rate, MSE was far from the only place where it was top of the Best Buy tables.

    2. I knew all along that Icesave had "unusual" compensation arrangements. How did I know? Martin told me.

    3. I knew last week that Iceland was becoming dodgy, by the simple expedient of listening to the news.

    4. Putting all the above together, I decided to get my money out of Icesave and at the weekend I submitted a CHAPS request to do exactly that.

So if I could figure that out, why couldn't you? If it's all Martin's fault, how come I'm not in the same boat as you?

Commiserations and all that but coming here ranting and swearing isn't going to help you.

I don't agree it's Martin's fault, it's a personal decision were you invest. I do agree that Martin has lost a lot of credibility over this issue.
  • Martin may have recommended it but there was also plenty of info on here about how dodgy Iceland was at the minute. I decided against Icelandic banks solely on what i read on here. Not his fault you didn't do enough research

You are responsible for the decisions you make. I have money in Icesave, but I'm not blaming Martin for it. He doesn't have a crystal ball to see what's going to happen to banks in the future any more than anyone else does. I've found this site hugely helpful over the past year and am very grateful to Martin (and everyone else) for all the tips and advice.

I would just like to say I am only at risk of losing nearly £35k thanks to Martin Lewis who regularly tipped Icesave and other even more dodgy banks like ICICI in his newsletter so that he could earn more commission from click thrus and make himself rich.

The man is clearly a total charlatan who far from apologising is now trying to earn yet more click thru revenue by tipping new dodgy banks for us to invest in and lose all our money with.

He will probably ban me for these comments but if people don't show their anger and hurt then how can he ever understand what he has done.

Mr Lewis your credibility is now zero and you should resign in favour of someone who does not encourage people to risk losing all their money in dodgy foreign banks with alleged investors compensation schemes that do not pay out on the amount allegedly promised.:eek::eek::mad::mad::mad:

90% of Icesave investors would not have their money in this bank and be at risk of losing most of their cash savings if it were not for Martin Lewis's repeated reckless promotion of this company and other Icelandic and similar dodgy overseas headquartered banks.

Total rubbish. Many posters have been trying to tell you guys that the Icelandic banks weren't safe and none of you would listen.

ML merely listed the top interest rates, the rest was of your own making.

We were called sheep, doom-mongers, scaremongers and that was on a polite day - direct your anger somewhere else...

oh and try to read a newspaper once in awhile...

  • Hopefully all the scared and grumpy people will have calmed down a little now they have read AD's promise! Go to the pub and chil people, it will take time, but you will get your money back. Methinks that Icelandic tourism can lump it now though!
  • Icesave is a tiny little country

    Icesave isnt a country
    Will someone thank me :)
  • Martin Lewis has no need to resign but how about some of the regulars on this board give up believing they are money saving wizz kids;)
