I took an Egg card but wait for this. They charge you £50 transaction fee when you first do the balance transfer but what they DO NOT tell you is that they charge you intereste on that £50 as if it were a purchase. So although the transfer it's self is at 2% the £50 is charged EVERY MONTH at the merchandise standard rate. They DON'T tell you that when you do it!!
I'll watch for that and query if necessary. On the plus side, it's only an extra fiver or so over the interest free period so not a deal breaker relative to the 200 quid or so gain to be had.

My Lloyd's TSB BT card runs out next month, so will then accrue interest. I was looking at the RBS card as mentioned here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1122985312,39518,

However on close inspection the 0% interest on BT is only applicable to current RBS bank account customers, and is therefore a cost

No Balance transfer fee for RBS current accountholders (Non current accountholders 2%. Min £5, max £49)

This seems applicable on the Classic Card,Gold Card and Platinum Card's

Any one got any suggestions for a card for 9 months or greater? I have been with Lloyd's TSB and Barclay card, so I am trying to get my debt down without acrueing interest. Any help would be most apprepiated.
  • Hope this is the right place, the Motley Fool are showing a card with a rate of 0% for twelve months. :D
But I can't find it mentioned here any where and have been trying for ages
The card is the ' Halifax one card' have I missed a report saying it is not the one to go with as they are totally bad or should I apply quick before it gets inundated.
Sorry if this has been asked before or is the wrong place to ask, but have just admited i am in dept and today am trying to do the searching to decide how to start doing something about it. :o

Halifax One looks good, but remember there is a BT fee of 2% (max £50) and remember not to spend on it during the 12 month period or you'll pay interest after 3 months.
  • Have £5200 on Barclaycard and £6550 on MBNA
So figure the £50.00 is not a lot compared to what I will be saving in interest.
And to get them transfered for a year will save a lot of messing in 6 or 9 months. thanks for taking the trouble to reply :T
Would be cutting up card so no chance of spending on it.
Started a thred about this one as could not find this card or deal mensioned anyware.
  • Just thought I'd pass on a good 'un. SKY card are offering 12 months 0% on balance transfers and purchases (if I read it right not that I intend to buy anything with it.) the only people eligable though are existing sky customers..... seemingly you can also use it as a sky card (i.e. insert it in the box) and buy payper veiw stuff as well...... seems pretty good I've applied for one I'll let you know how I get on.

    Just found it

    http://www.fool.co.uk/decisioncentre/creditcards/TransAndPurch.aspx

    2% fee though

    0% for 12 months (2% fee)

Hope this is the right place, the Motley Fool are showing a card with a rate of 0% for twelve months. :D

  • CapitalOne Platinum card -
I've just found the above card offered in Sunday Times supplement (29th Jan) which offers 0% BT until May 2007, making it 14 months. They do want 2% handling fee but I still think it's a good deal, but I can't see the same card online - any thoughts?
  • I was looking to carry out a balance transfer as a regular tart and investigated Martin's list. I fancied trying the Co-op Adv Gold card as it's a company that I have had approval from in the past. Martin has it down in his list as a free balance transfer but when I looked in the terms in conditions there is a 2% charge on Balance transfers so just to warn people to check the terms and conditions carefully.
