Ok according to the texaco card site http://www.texacocard.co.uk/summary_box/index.html they are offering Life of Balance transfer at 3.9% for balances transferred in the first 6 weeks. I am sure Martin had mentioned this somewhere that you needed to do something first to get it to work properly but according to the cheap plastic loan articel the cheapest LOB is 4.9%
I can't see anything in the T&Cs of the texaco offer to make me think there is a catch so can Martin or anyone help as I don't want to get caught out?0 -
I don't think the Texacocard are taking on any new customers at present
Shame, as the 3.9% life of balance transfer offer was fab

So I have just wasted 2 months for nothing .
I think if they are this bad with new customers who they are supposedly trying to impress what kind of service do the old customers get !!!0 -
The HSBC link in Martin's Best Balance Transfers article leads to a 6-month 0% offer only. Has the 9-month 0% fee-free BT offer now been withdrawn and replaced with this, or does anyone know how to still get 9 months?
Failing this, is there another option for a 9-month 0% fee-free BT card? The only ones I can find appear to be the Lloyds TSB cards where you have to apply in person at a branch.

You can apply for Lloyds TSB cards by phone.0 -

I was reading Martins Tips from this week regarding the best 0% cards and wanted to opt for the Barclays one purely for the 10 months option. I'm an existing account holder but can't see any way of applying online that avaids the 2.5% fee. All of the links that I have found on the Barclays site link to Barclaycard.co.uk and I don't want to have an unneccessary credit check carried out if i'm not going to use the card.
Has anybody else had any luck with this and if so do you have a link to where I should be looking?
Thanks
I applied for a barclaycard platinum through the link at https://www.barclays.co.uk where apparently you need to be a barclays account holder to get 10 months interest free and no balance transfer fee (2% through barclaycard.co.uk) but if you apply here and tick the no box for 'do you have a barclays bank account' you still get a card with no transfer fee!
Worked for me! Try it! I had the card within a week too!0 -

Below is what I had in the terms when I just signed up for one. I am a barclays customer.
PROMOTIONAL
ANNUAL
INTEREST RATE 0% for 10 months from account opening (with no handling fee) on balance transfers of £5000 or less and 6.9% p.a. on amounts over £5000 for eligible balances transferred within 60 days of account opening. 0% interest on purchases for 3 months from account opening.
We will transfer Promotional Balances to the Standard Balance or the Cash Balance (as relevant) at the end of the promotional period and also if you break this agreement. See condition 1.2 for more information.0 -
This might be fairly obvious, but it's worth mentioning: it takes up to 3 weeks to get a new card and do the balance transfer. This makes it not worth it for me with my MBNA linked card as my large outstanding balance is due only towards end March but the statement they issue is on 7 March. After the statement date/issue, any balance transfers or even payments aren't credited on to March's bill, but are reflected as a credit on April's! Do all credit card cos work this way? I had a big refund from a PC retailer, but still had to pay the cc and wait for my refund the following month!
Barclaycard offered me a derisory one month 0% interest balance free transfer and would not waive their handling fee, despite my not having used their card for ages; best deal with them would be their 6.9% interest mentioned elsewhere on this thread.
Capital One btw are no longer offering 0% on balance transfers - only purchases as far as I could see.
If anyone knows of a quick cc with no fee, 0% interest for 6 months or more and no requirement for 3 years UK residency, please let me know today. I've tried the Post Office who seem to be reasonable but again, take too long. Moral: think before you buy or read this website before you buy!
Thanks.0
