Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

  • The problem does not lie within ING direct. ING direct doesnt have access to the account details of the Kaupthing Edge customers. But transfers should start being made very soon.

All the savers that are with Kaupthing Edge will get thier funds.

    @theworrier,

i feel for ya - i really do. sounds like im pretty small fry compared to you who are near to retirement. it takes a little while for story to get out but there has been media movement today because i and a couple of others have been potentially lined up for TV interviews tommorrow (bbc & ch4)...

what i would say is though is have a read of this which Simon posted:

    http://www.citywire.co.uk/adviser/-/news/adviser-news/content.aspx?ID=317137

that to me says that ING have finally accepted responsibilty for the black hole of cash (i dont know why the reporter would make it up). this article i'd say is positive acknowledgement of the problem and will help me sleep tonight.

sit tight and enjoy another red - tommorrow is a new day.
  • Thanks LuKENUkum - hope got your username right - I feel a bit better after reading that link - put it all in perspective - I work at a Hospice and we have finances to worry about - if only that was the patients only problem.

Never really used a forum before - bit technical for me, but it has been a lifesaver or a marriage saver - thanks for all your help, it is really appreciated.

Glass in hand, still can afford a cheap bottle of plonk. We have taped every news channel today but maybe we should turn to the comedy channel for better viewing - not little individuals like us.

    Keep up the good work.
  • Hi, has anyone read the home page? It was updated at 6.00pm tonight. We are really worried, we stupidly had our life savings in a KE account - worked out we are losing £100 a day in interest - so you can guess what a large amount we are talking about - were ready to retire and feel its all gone - red wine and sleepless nights have been the order of the week. We did a CHAPS transfer on Tuesday via the phone and as that didn't seem to work did another on Wednesday via internet, as initially our log in was blocked - we thought it was us in panic that was keying in the wrong details, now we realise many people couldn't log in either - so we are sitting here reading all the posts and can't understand why BBC. ITV, Channel 4, Sky not reporting anything about individual savers - please if anything comes on the news about individuals can you post back.

We know we been stupid and no one would have much sympathy with us, but we were taught to save and work hard - now we are thinking our kids were right SPEND SPEND SPEND - only wish we had it to spend.

Don't know why I am rattling on - just needed to get my feelings down on paper - husband gone into his shell, I am just trying to remain positive - he worked long hours and hard work all his life for THIS.

Somebody give me something positive to read before we hit another bottle of red!!

Keep up the good work all your forum members - it has been a little bit of solace knowing we are a community all fighting together.

Would you think we could claim for the lost interest now our LIFE SAVINGS are lost in cyber space - to date it is £400 and rising.

Why did I call myself THE WORRIER - that was a year ago when I first joined - never thought this would happen.

Sorry, this might not be that positive, but I wanted to offer you emotional support to say "I FEEL YOUR PAIN!" Although significantly below retirement age, I have (had?) half of my savings with KE and like many others, I am WORRIED.

On the other hand, I am reassured by some reports today that ING are sorting these things out and I hope that, within a week or so, everything will be back to normal. In the meantime, many of us (in particular, ME) have spent WAAAAY too long looking at this stuff on the MSE site and the internet, because, like the song says, whatever will be will be, and we'll just have to deal with whatever happens. Probably it's all good in the long run, so we should just log off and have a glass of red wine (or, in my case, an orange chocolate martini!!!!)

Lots of support going out to all my MSE buddies in the same situation. Appreciate you all posting your support, suggestions and latest news items.

    All the best!

I emailed ‘Working Lunch’ today and got a reply, saying our problem will be discussed in tomorrow’s programme. They invited me to appear on the programme but I declined. So, if any of you are near the Beeb's London studios tomorrow or can get to your local BBC TV studio, send them an email describing your story about KE.
  • Please add me to your list

2 bacs payments made, 1 last Saturday and 1 on Monday - still lost in hyperspace

Would like to thank all of you for trying to ascertain where our money is, and when we will get it back

Please add me to the list I did a CHAPS transfer Monday afternoon.

I also have funds in ICESAVE so know how everyone is feeling - my gut feeling is that with luck it will all work out OK.

OK guys left message with Channel 4, if she rings me back and wants me to represent you all then please be prepared to PM with consensus on what to say.

I don't mind coming across as foolish, I'm a mum of 4 with her life savings showing as zero and been charged £20 for the privilege not to mention the pounds and pounds spent hanging on the phone trying to get through to Kaupthing listening to their "your money is safe" message.

Believe me, I am so angry, I will get our point across.

Good luck to you - we are most appreciative!

    hi Bigg,

i think this could be my slot... bbc said they'd confirm in the morning. will do my best!

im hoping ING will release something on their website to confirm they are aware and taking responsibility for this problem. that will settle everyone's mind.

I wish you the best of luck.

I think we all expect to get our money back but, right at this moment it doesn’t exist in either account and is losing interest. It wouldn’t hurt ING to let us know what is happening. I saw in another thread that they should be processing transfers tomorrow morning. Hopefully, they will try to get it done in time to cover themselves, if they are interviewed. If ING look like a safe and secure place to save money with a good interest rate, I will consider using them but I’ll be dammed to be forced into it.

In the long haul, I hope some good comes out of this mess and there are some serious investigations into the way banks treat their customers. I hope we can get back to the days when customers were treated with courtesy and not just an account number that can be used, abused and bled dry.
