I have spoken with the FSCS and APACS this afternoon and both are very confident that all money moved out of Kaupthing and Icesave accounts in the past week, that hasn't appeared in the destination account yet, will be reunited with the account owners.
APACS also said that any charges for CHAPS transfers are taken out of the money that is transferred, not actually charged as fees. Therefore when the money gets repatriated to your accounts, they would expect it to be the full amount (so including any fee deductions)
All details on this will be added to the Savings Safety articleFormer MSE team member0 -
I finally got to speak to someone at Kaupthing a moment ago, having been trying all day. She stated that all payments that have been made since MONDAY are in a holding account and will be sent on. But they do not know when this will happen!0

Could nomorekids PM me with her real name, please?
Victoria Eastwood at ITN News has too many messages, and she doesn't know which one is you to arrange the interview.

On Tuesday 7 Oct at 08.20 I made a phone request to Kaupthing to transfer all funds in 1 year account to instant saver so I could then withdraw. I was promised that this would be actioned but take 48 hours to complete. My funds should have been available this morning (Thursday). They are still showing in the 1 year account so cannot be accessed. I cannot get through to Kaupthing and ING have said they can do nothing - not even pass my complaint up the line! This is the worst of all scenarios! Cannot access our money. Cannot claim through FSCS. No mention of this dilemma on the news - Why not??0

As I understand it, if you have an internet account, then you are with Kaupthing Edge. The 3000 related to Kaupthing Singer Friedlander (KSF), which is different. It's the Kaupthing Edge (i.e. internet accounts) that have been taken over by ING Direct and therefore theoretically safer.
Hope this helps!0 -
I informed Citywire of the problem along with several other newsdesks, as recommended. They undertook some investigations and called me back, offering some reassurance and taking a few quotes at the same time.
