  • So is there a best strategy for getting the rest of my money I left behind in KE back ?

Currently I'm ~50k and a £20 CHAPS fee (+interest) down but there is still some left in KE/ING. I'm loathed to put myself in the same position of having to check my linked account every day. Better to leave the remainder where it is until it quietens down a bit perhaps ?

I pity the people that have to take calls such as these.
So do I, that’s how the fat cats at the top hide themselves with layers of protection, but how else do you complain?

Well - if I'm still in the same position on Wednesday I'm off to ING in TVP, Reading to bang on the door and havea frank discussion with some people.

£ 13,783.66, CHAPS requested/initiated online (NOT by telephone) on 08/10/2008 at approx 6.40pm, the total amount in the account before initiating the CHAPS was £ 13,903.66,
£20 CHAPS fee deducted directly from my account, balance showing at today GBP 0.00,
money left immediately my account on 08/10/2008.
I don't really know where to go from now, I have not contacted KE and/or ING yet, just been following this forum (sent my transaction details to Maggie) and tried/trying to keep positive, but if no money will show up into my linked account by tomorrow I will start to seriously get nervous since it seems that many people have received their money back and ING even issued an official statement claiming that 90% of the payment backlog has been sorted and only a few "manual" transactions have still to get "cleared"...
And I have the same amount of money "lost/stuck" into Icesave.
Now the bills are starting to come in so the worries are starting to get "real", I have no money to pay out.
I hope I will avoid it, but I am starting to get ready and preparing a lots of letters to my creditors asking for a "grace" period...
    What a situation...!!!

You'd have to stand in the queue

Just make sure you have hard copies of your statements. Do several printouts. I doubt that you will ever need them but it’s belt and braces time.

I was very worried about ever seeing my money again but now I am 100% confident we will all receive every penny of our cash, it’s just a matter of when.

It’s a waiting game. I’m going to give them till the end of the working day Monday to convince me they have the situation under control, then I will start sending emails to every media organisation in the country and recommend everyone else does as well, regardless of what announcements or promises they dream up.

    They hate bad publicity.

Don’t panic, by Tuesday we could all be bathing in Champaign. :D

A human, I rang them 3 or 4 times throughout the day and each time spoke to customer services. Got the same response each time, nothing showing. Nearly fell off my chair when it appeared.

Sorry if this is a bit out of time, I am just scrolling through this morning. Noticed cabaloo's post and just wanted to say it was a similar situation with me, HSBC, numerous calls to them during Friday, nothing showing, nothing for Monday either, but keep checking, they said. Suddenly, at 3pm, Friday, a CHAPS appeared in my account. I had asked for BACS so was quite surprised (pleasantly). I still keep checking to see that it is still there!

All will be good, for everyone, in the end.

Phew I thought it was just me that had lost the plot, I keep checking to make sure it's still there too. Just to echo your words though I'm sure all will come good for everyone, still here rooting for you all. ;)
  • Stats for payments so far

    16/10 8 payments 8.03-11.35pm
    17/10 206 payments 12.19am- 7.36pm*

*posting times, not into bank times

    214 payments
    108 non-payments
    = 322 of us*

*some people received more than 1 payment, some received 1 but are still waiting for others

    = 66.5% paid
    = 33.5% not paid

Just hope ours really are stuck in the pipeline to our receiving banks and will miraculously appear tomorrow. I just don't want to be the last, as I really will cry.

Now feeling tired, depressed and generally frazzled.
    CHAPS 8/10 received Halifax 20/10
    BACS 18/11 (£30) (actioned 19/11) received CHAPS Halifax 21/11
    BACS 24/11 (£50) (actioned 25/11) received Halifax 28/11

    Stercus accidit:cool:

Sorry, I spelled your name incorrectly, catbaloo. Have a great day.
