If it did, we would all of had it as soon as our individual account web pages said "transfer complete" wouldn't we? Same with Icesave. Same with any bank - they need more control than that for releasing deposits
Fact is we didn't see our money because there is at least one more step in the process before the transfer is completed and that gate was closed from early October as far as I can see.
How do you know all this?0 -
Morning everyone.
I have now received information from 108 transfers (2 with no value sent) and the total stands at...(pregnant paust)...£3,456,531
Could this be your star sign????
Feel free to move forward with your plans, dear Aries. This is a great day for you to take action. You have done a great deal of data collecting and analyzing lately. Now is the time to put that information to good use. You are helped by an extra boost of inner confidence and emotional strength. Your grounded, conservative approach will be richly rewarded. You couldn't ask for a more productive day!
thanks for all your hard work.0 -
so goodethernet, are you now saying there is a theory that my cash lies two miles below the surface somewhere off North America? jeez, and i thought next week was gonna be my lucky week!
Could be! If they were at the bottom of the Atlantic, that would be entirely consistent with ING's "all your savings are safe" statement.:rotfl:0 -
This is a summary from the database for anyone who didn't see the info yesterday - or who consoled themselves so well last night they remember nothing;)
108 non arrived transfers (5 BACS, the rest CHAPS)
value = £3,456,531 (unknown value of 2 CHAPS)
14 banks given as linked accounts
transfer inititation range from 6th to 9th - mostly 7th, 8th, 9th - and one BACS from 11th
Today, I am tearing myself away and going to paint barge boards. I will check PM and lovelife42@hotmail.co.uk periodically if anyone who wants to hasn't yet added their details.

How do you know all this?
1. I spoke to a supervisor at KE who told me that's how it works. This was before all the missed deadlines and general stress associated with ING
2. I was told by a supervior at Icesave that it works that way. Despite my account showing a confirmed CHAPS payment, it bounced back 48 hours later. It never left the bank
3. I was told by my personal banking manager at Nat West that it works that way and even after a payment is released, it can be reversed if insufficient funds turn out to be available at the sending bank.
I know this last part to be true as I transferred £43k from the Nat West to Brimingham midshires once and put a typo in the amount, so BM called on the Nat West for £430k. Guess what happened? My BM account went to a deposit balance of £430k and my Nat West account was £400k overdrawn for the day. It reversed the next day obviously.
NOT ONE person has reported anything turn up in their linked accounts that was then reversed due to lack of funds at KE, neither BACS nor CHAPS. Not one. Really hard to believe we would not have seen some of that going on if payments had been made by KE. I firmly believe these transactions never left the bank.0 -
Just been reading through this lot.
I phoned Ing today to ask about the latest position. They say that 90% of transactions were put through by cop Friday 17th. The other 10% will be put through Monday 20th but some may take till mid week. The category of "manual transactions" does not to CHAPS; it refers to all requests made by telephone rather than by internet.
In view of this I asked why Ing had failed to deliver on the CEO's promise be e-mail last Wednesday that "In addition to the payments already made we are now able to confirm that all payments will arrive in their destination bank account by close of business Friday 17 October. There are a very small number of manual payment instructions which are still being processed and will take slightly longer."
The reply was waffle about it being a big job etc, and the e-mail didn't promise that all transactions would go thru by Friday. Given that "manual transactions" refers to telephone requests, I said that the e-mail certainly did promise that all internet-based requests would go through by Friday, and therefore Ing have failed to deliver. I told them I thought their bank stinks.0 -
I'm a lot worried you may be correct in your assumptions, because when I rang KE the other day to make sure my closure request (CHAPS, 7th Oct) was being processed (as I can still see the complete balance in account), they said it had been sent to their "Head Office", as closures have to be dealt with manually. I've run out of stamina now, what with this and Icesave (which I haven't even started to thing about yet!).
Please dont worry. I hope I am not right. But even if I am, it does not mean our money is lost. All that will happen is that we knock on someone elses door. Eventually I am sure we will get it all back. Think there are enough of us here with the necessary tenacity to see this through. Please dont worry, no one.....Illegitimi non carborundum

Thank you.
I am still mystified why ING do not realize that our CHAPS have failed. They used CHAPS to push the BACS through successfully?
I hope they transfer £430.000 to my account and then crash and burn.0 -
