Okay, so much for my self-imposed ban on checking this slightly addictive thread - but it's lunchtime at work so I figure that the risk of being sacked for checking the thread AGAIN is minimal.
Anyway, sorry if this has already been posted but I've just read quite an interesting article on the BBC website - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7670313.stm I am a dunce when it comes to economics(and figure that my dunceness has probably contributed to the panic of my "lost" money (which still has not been found btw)) so found this article quite informative.
See you Friday, then.0 -

Infact I am considering investing in HBOS Isle of Man!, now that IOM is guaranteeing 50K.0 -

10% interest on offer, monthly saver, 2000 maximum per month. Well worth it. One has to get inflationbusting deals, else the value goes down. It is the only income on top of state pension I have.
This is only for international savers outwith the UK i,e Ex pats etc :-((Non illigitamus carborundum!!0 -
Mine too,and this has been explained several times now,Miserable!!
I tried to make a transfer on line on oct 8th which seemed to have been accepted, but then wasn't shown as a withdrawal from my account - so I tried again on oct 9th and this was shown as a withdrawal.
So is this classed as a duplicate transfer - or was it just that the first one didn't work?KE veteran - life seemed so much simpler then!0 -
It could be next Iceland of Man. Are you tempting your fortune?
You might be right......but I dont think UK govt, will allow HBOS to go bankrupt.. I will only be putting in 2000 per month for 12 months. We have to make some judgement on where this thing is leading, and if there is gonna be a financial armagheddon, what's under the mattress will not buy a potato. Think back to the German hyperinflation days. You went to buy food filled with a barow load of money, and came out clutching a bag of potatoes only. I dont think our government, or any other in the west would get us to such a state.....Illegitimi non carborundum

I would class a duplicate transfer as one for the same amount on the same day.0 -

<snipped> Possibly some good news.
Last week (after BoE unexpectedly dropped interest rate) I have decided to lock some money in KE termed deposit and transferred a small amount from my linked account to KE via BACS. I have received this money into my KE account today.
So some money is moving - never mind it's the opposite direction....quote]
Did same thing, after CHAPSed all of KE last Tuesday, I immediately BACS INTO KE 5.00 to keep the account open. It showed up in the KE account today - 9 days afterwards!0 -

I have applied, wait and see. I did not encounter anything which suggested it was only for people residing outside the uk. but we shall see.....Illegitimi non carborundum
