this is exactly what I argued on the phone with them, to cancel the CHAPS request so my money would be somewhere. They told me to wait it out then transfer the money back in (no chance whatsoever once its out, its staying out).
However at the present time, cancelling all the CHAPS requests at least makes perfect sense. The payments weren't received the same working day they were made anyway and loads of people have now made alternative arrangements or simply changed their mind.
it makes perfect sense to me tooIf you want to be rich, never, ever have kids0 -
I know it's hard, but what's the point of the worrying / checking / worrying cycle? Unless of course you need this money right now for a specific purpose. I have £30,000 transferred from KE last Tuesday to Nationwide, still no sign of it at either place. I'm trying to stay informed of the latest situation, hence seeing what people have to say on here, but I'm certainly not checking my accounts every 5 minutes and panicking that it's lost forever - not unless more evidence comes to light to support it. And even then, the current indications are that we would get it back eventually.
There's reason for concern, but not for panic. As Mark Twain said, "I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened."0 -

Are you my internet stalker?!?
Was I the only one recommending KE? I had no idea they would fold, neither did the thousands who are currently in the same situation. Up to the very shrouded collapse, they were offering a great interest rate, great service, and as you may notice were still at the top of Martins top accounts....
I chose to withdraw a chunk of my funds by BACS on the 7-10 after the collapse of Icesave, my decision, I still left money in KE, but I wanted to reduce my balance, just in case things got worse and money would have to be claimed from the FSCS. Sadly it was the wrong decision as now my money, along with thousands of others is now in limbo.
Cant see anywhere I have panicked....
Once it settles down and is an ING account, if it still offers the good rate of interest, it'll still be a good account.
Genny,
You have totally misinterpreted my question. It was genuine interest in that I wondered if I had inadvertently prompted you to withdraw, after being concerened you were going to add to your holdings. Nothing subversive and I am surprised and sorry you have taken it the wrong way.
I too held KE savings in easy access and a bond.I still have the bond ,now with ING.I did move my easy access cash on the 6/10 and it was BACS'd to my account on the Friday.
I am very much in the same boat as most here excpet that some of my money was received.
Once again, apologies if I have caused you to think I was being mischevious.0 -
I reckon I should take out a 7.5k loan/credit out from ING to hedge against the 7.5k that has vanished into thin air from my KE. This way if ING goes belly up, then ill have my money in one shape or form, and if it arrives, ill repay ING.0

I'm not worrying that it's lost forever, I just need it now really really badly and it is a constant worry. I would gladly trade my head for someones who manages to remain calm. Staying informed doesn't really help either as it is still out of my control. I guess I'm just a control freak so will shut up whinging now! :silenced: Have a good afternoon/evening all.0 -

I was only teasing! Thanks for the kind reply. I was moaned at along with other regulars on another thread for recommending KE recently - but I really did believe KE would be ok, I'm amazed at what has happened in the past week or so.
I really had intended adding more too, when it all settles down I'll have to see, I've not been impressed with the lack of communication from ING, so I'm not confident to bank with them in the future, however if they keep the KE rates, it may be a good bet, for under 70K.
You make a good move with the 6-10 withdrawal, I did think about it then and a few days earlier, but wanted to stick and weather it out
Wish I'd heeded your warnings and got out earlier now with hindsight!!
I'm sure we all will get our money, but I'm not confident it'll be in the next day or so, maybe by Fri we'll know a bit more....0
