Kaupthing Edge CHAPS Transfer

If the one on fool is genuine it is a freak that was sent last week and luckily made it through this week. It is the only case posted on any internet site I have seen so I question its validity. There are many many more, probably thousands, who are just waiting in the dark, getting increasingly anxious. I am not calmed by any announcement on the website. I might be, if they could explain why no chaps payments have been actioned today, but as we all know they are systematically avoiding that question.
Let's hope it is something as 'innocent' as them enjoying our interest for a few extra days. I feel permanently sick at the moment. I hope the FSA are onto what is going on at the moment.0 -
Just got this comment posted from fool.co.uk if it helps
'Emailed CEO of ING 2 hours ago and just received a call from their Customer Relations Manger. He said:-
All the transfers which took place after the accounts were frozen went into a holding account. None of the information has been 'lost'.
Transfers were being done manually last week as many customers had put through several requests for the same transaction and they have had to contact people to make sure there wasn't a duplication of the same request.
There has been a slow down of transactions today because they have been reviewing their procedure of last week in order to make it more automated and quicker. He said all transactions would be done in days not weeks.
Their first priority is to get everyone's money transferred and once this is done they will start looking at refunding CHAPS fees and lost interest.
He said not to worry as everyone's money is safe (and for what it's worth I believe him).
Hope this puts people's minds at rest for the time being.'0 -
Dont worry we will get our money back. How do you think you address a backlog of 160,000 withdrawals in a backlog. Glad i'm not dealing with it. And at least the last message shuts up the numpty earlier on who was going on about loss of interest. As I said before check out http://www.fool.co.uk/news/your-money/savings/2008/10/09/wheres-my-kaupthing-cash.aspx
as someone has received a payment today so they are slowly going through. I predict a raft of BACS payments on Wednesday!
Hope you are right, about wednesday, or I am going to get MAD AS HELL!0 -

CHAPS is more expensive to process than BACS so thats probably why they have not processed CHAPS today. I wouldnt expect them to CHAPS everyones payment. They know were all waiting so if they process the BACS file today we will probably get them Wed / Thurs this week. I think they are just getting organised today and the payments will start to flow later in the week.0 -

There's no suggestion of any fraud here. I think that's just unfair. I have mixed feelings towards ING over this stuff while I wait for my money. From an objective point of view:
Things that you COULD NOT reasonably have expected to benefit from when KE went bust:
1. ING stepping in to take over the deposits
2. Getting any cover for lost deposits above 50k
3. A likely payment into your account within 14 days of KE going bust (assuming this is sorted within 14 days - just a guess)
4. Getting any interest from the point KE went bust.
So......those are all good things considering how it could have gone down
Things that you COULD reasonably have expected to happen after ING took over 160,000 very worried customers:
1. A proper communication with at least some kind of time frame, even if it was "you will all be paid within 30 days". At least you could plan for that.
2. Not much else really, since the alternative would be the FSCS
I think we will mostly all look back in a month's time and think "that could have been a lot worse".....0 -

If people have requested CHAPS then thats how they should be processed. CHAPS are same day if requested before a certain time. So if no one has received a payment who requested CHAPS that would mean they havent processed them. If they are only processing BACS that would mean anything processed today will take 3/5 days to reach accounts0 -
don't forget those that have requested CHAPS have PAID for it!0
