I withdrew a large sum from my KE account on Monday evening by BACS, not CHAPS. I left just £100.30 in the account and that's the balance that showed up straight away and is still showing. Worryingly, I checked with my bank today and the money has not arrived. The guy said he could also see what was due to arrive next day and there was nothing showing up. Does anyone have any idea where my money has gone?

To those fretting about the lack of CHAPS transactions completed, it would appear from those of us that have had our money appear, that ING are going through the system in date order, and it seems they've only so far reached transactions that should have been made on Monday (or before). As CHAPS is normally same day, any CHAPS transfers that went on Monday were probably successfully delivered to their target bank, its only Tuesday onwards where CHAPS transfers have been held up.

Therefore, I'd say there is nothing to worry about just yet as there are no Monday CHAPS people still waiting for money as far as Im aware (?), so it would appear that the reason you don't yet have the money is simply because Tuesday transactions of all types (whether they're BACS or CHAPS) have yet to be flushed from the system and paid.

  • Requested my money on Tuesday evening, money left on Wednesday. I am hoping it will come through early next week. Has anyone else done a withdrawal on Tuesday evening?

The Kaupthing site advises there is a backlog, so I expect some delay..

You’ll have the CIA after you, spreading malicious gossip, bringing a company down.

    Yikes!

Other people are clearly worried - I've just seen a thread about it on here.

I'm not sure whether I would advise them to take their money out or leave it! It's hard to know what to do for the best at the moment.

I wouldnt worry, unlike BACS transfers which the banks can usually see when on its way, I believe CHAPS transfers (which is what ING are using to transfer the money) do not show up beforehand as they are effectively instant, or same day at worst.
