Bloody Hell....ive spent days worrying about my KE deposits now you want me to panic about my ICICI savings aswell just because you've a cr*p broadband connection
LOL. You've missed the point. I WAS able to access the ICICI site just fine, but attempts to log in just timed out ( but were nevertheless logged so I got locked out under the usual 3 strike policy ) Hardly anything to do my connection!

Ha ha - your misses gives you too much log-in time :D I'd have timed out after 5 unless chocolate security measures were in place :p

I have £60k in icici and will be withdawing 10K asap...

£35K is in a one year bond - so I guess this is safe as well?

Reading the forum it seems this is panic and contagion across the internet!!!

Is Interest paid, but not already added to the account balance also safe, or would that be lost if ICICI or any another bank went bust?

Why are people so thick? Panicking only makes matters worse. No wonder the server is busy if everyone is trying to log in ... duh

Do you have to be rude? Could the panicking have something to do with the fact that 300,000 of us ended up with no access whatsoever to our money in Icesave yesterday? I am trying to access ICICI this morning and every time I get to the CHAPS transfer page it times out, though I've never had problems before. Yes, the servers will be very busy, but I will keep trying until I can transfer my cash (under the £50K limit) into my UK bank account: OK, seems to me that all the world's banks are facing a crisis, and I know that ICICI has FCS protection, but the fact is we know a little more about the status of our own main banks than these smaller ones. I am trying to streamline my finances, invest in NSI products and prioritise safety over interest now.

    From the ICICI website:

    arrow.jpg Protection of customer deposits

ICICI Bank UK PLC is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and is a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme established under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. In respect of deposits with ICICI Bank UK PLC, payments under the Scheme are limited to 100% of the first £50,000 of a depositor's total deposits with the bank. Where two depositors hold a joint account, each depositor may receive a maximum of £50,000 compensation in respect of the claim, giving a total of £100,000. Most depositors, including individuals and small firms, are covered.
