OK let us be calm --I think all of us ICESAVE moneysavers have to "get together" all of us and unite to form some of alliance in order to attempt to get our money back -like you I closed my account and chaps this morning and O arrived.

How can we get an action plan going togehter as this will be the only way to fight this --await repsonse -lets get the ball rolling and see how to procede-I hope that Martin can help us in this .

I've been thinking along similar lines today - we need to wait and see how it pans out of course (am crossing fingers that they will somehow sell the foreign operations as a going concern, as with B&B). But there are 300,000 of us by all accounts, that's a lot of people power if we work together.

Steve_hill: Same story I got told but I was told money would be back tonight/tomorrow
  • HI
I'm in a similar position did a chaps last night and my Icesave account is showing its left but nothings arrived in my linked bank account yet. Rang the HSBC who said there was no sign of any chaps coming in.

I phoned ICESAVE and was told I may have been ok as the block was put on at 9am this morning so the Chaps might have got through.

Then later another person at ICESAVE said it would be returned to the Icesave account along with the £30 charge.

Also I had money in a fixed term which I couldnt get at anyway. I can never remember actually recieving terms and conditions on either account only a welcome letter. Am I right in saying that building societies will let you withdraw bonds and lose three months interest?

The good news is I also withdrew money from my Kaupthing edge account last night by Chaps and thats showed up in my linked bank account at approx 4.45 pm Although again I have a fixed rate bond in that as well which I cant touch.

BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL

Looks to me like Icesave staff have been told it's perfectly fine to lie to UK customers.

i didnt close it but if i did it was because i need my money. waiting x months for a claim to go through (if successful) is no good to me.
  • Hello everyone. I am in the same boat - I had tried to make a transaction on Sunday but their website was malfunctioning. Made a BACS yesterday morning (when I didn't know how bad the situation was), and tried to transfer the rest by CHAPS at 6am this morning. My Icesave account has been debited, but no money has shown up in the target bank. I'm out for £25K. I wonder is it legal for them to claw-back transfers?
I will check again tomorrow, but from reading the other comments it looks like all transfers supposedly "processed" since the weekend have actually been retained in a holding account. I wonder when the staff were told to do this?

I too am waiting to see whether a CHAPs done yesterday evening 10.30pmish from icesave will turn up in my bank account or will be returned to Icesave. The balance on the Icesave account is £0.00, so I hope the 'money' does actually turn up somewhere. Boo hoo.

I'm posting information I've gathered from other posts that I've seen today (for those who've not been able to look around).

From what I understand no transfers have been actioned from yesterday (some saying Sunday) and so your money will probably end up back to your ICESAVE accounts. (Didn't see anything about closed acounts other than posted here).

Once the requirements are met for compensation kick in, you will automatically be sent a compensation form by the FSCS (which will be used for claims from the iceland and UK schemes), so you just need to watch the news for conformation of the banks status and then your letter boxes.

No one has an idea about timescales becuase this situation has never happened before. The european scheme says within 3 months, the UK states withing 6 months but it depends upon complexity.

mmmmm hard one that. Posibly because their PM said the country could go bankrupt. That did help to sway my decision a bit!
