    Update:

Received some paperwork from the administrators asking me to detail my claim on the company. Do I just send this to Santander or back to the administrator with a copy to Santander?

    Hi

Paid £300 by credit card to a letting agent on Friday afternoon on the premise of taking on a property in July with my Partner. Over the weekend my partner has learned of redundancies within the Armed Forces (he is in the Navy) and so we decided to withdraw our application. I emailed the letting agent on Sunday night (last night) to advise and spoke to them today and they said we couldn't have our money back.

They have not run any credit scores and no tenancy agreements have been taken out. I would say given the timescales (48 hours later) and the circumstances we would get our money back.

Am I entitled to it?? I have written a letter of complaint to the branch manager but what are my chances?

I have also requested a copy of a paper I signed and she has not provided me with a copy as yet.

Unfortunately I can't remember what it said and I was kind of pushed into paying the fee money there and then else we wouldn't get the property.

Can I use section 75 to get my money back???

I'd suggest checking the agreement as soon as possible and getting proper legal advice from there as this sort of thing will depend on what the paper you signed actually mentioned.

The £300 may have been taken as a holding deposit to take the property off the market, stop the agent negotiating with any other potential tenants as well as cover reference checks etc. and as it is you who is withdrawing from the agreement the agent may be entitled to keep the money to cover costs and for the time the property was off the market, during which they could have successfully signed with a different tenant.
  • We bought a car on finance (BMW Financial Services), through a main dealer.

We've had a number of issues and are realyl unhappy with the car. Two main things were that the car was meant to have tinted windows and didn't and the exhaust pipe was the wrong spec. Also, the interior was wrong, plus a few other issues.

Does section 75 offer me any protection?

It does, but you need to start with the dealer, to see if they will correct your issues.

    The story rolls on ..............................

Completed all paperwork and sent back to administrator and CC. Have received a letter from CC saying my dispute is with the merchant so to contact the administrator. Have called CC to be told that they will look into it and call me back. Have called administrator and asked for more confirmation that they wont be refunding me to send to CC.

Is all this usual? I dont know how many more hoops they want me to jump through.

    Hi All

Just a quick one, is it possible to claim for a car which I purchased fully on my Virgin MasterCard, which has now been written off. The car was insured in Third Party Fire & Theft and had only been owned for a week and a half.

Any help would be great thanks

    No.

I assume you where involved in an accident? If so was there another party to blame? If yes and it was their fault then you claim from their insurance.

If not and it was wholly your fault, then you will have to take the hit, don't forget to report to your insurance company anyway, as if not you may have trouble further down the line.

Success! After making my formal complaint to Card Services (part of HBOS who now own the card) they reinvestigated and upheld my complaint. I've now received a full refund plus interest and a £50.00 goodwill payment £5236.72.

Keep at it it pays off in the end!
Total claimed so far....over £40k! All for friends and relatives, who needs claim companies when we've got Martin!
