Section 75 refunds - article discussion

Used credit card to pay 3000 Euros as deposit for new property in Spain. Followed up with additional30% of purchase price.
Development did not happen and 30% deposit was returned through bank guarantee.
Natwest say puchase was greater than £30000 so section 75 does not apply and will not refund original 3000 euros.
My argument is that the credit card was only used for deposit of 3000 euros and not for the purchase price of the property which was in excess of £30000.
How do I stand with this argument?0 -

The value to invoke S75 is between £100-30000, it does not matter how much you put on the card it is the total value that counts.
It works the other way round to the consumers advantage, e.g. purchase price for example £25000. you pay £1 deposit on your CC, the whole total value is covered by S75 no matter how you pay the balance.
Why could you not get this "through bank guarantee." as you did re your 30% "deposit"
.

So myself and a friend were on a holiday to switzerland recently, on the way back from a night out we were fined by the police for being too loud. We were actually being fairly quiet as there were just the two of us and we have since heard the police like to fine English tourists for extra revenue. Anyway we were both given a 500 frank fine which my friend paid on his credit card. we were told this would only come to around £150 each, being slightly drunk we didn't even question the police. we later realize its actually closer to £350 each, I am not sure if because the police spoke poor english this was a mistake or something more suspect but I am wondering if anyone has any advice on whether section 75 covers this? As it doesn't talk about fines mainly the sale of good etc.
Thanks a quick response would be great0 -

Quick response as requested. Section 75 does not cover run ins with the local police"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Section 75 is not intended to cover you for fines. You haven't paid for a "product" you have received a fine in accordance with the laws of that country.
No it isnt a hunch ."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

If you look closely you'll see ''product'' is never mentioned anywhere in the section. Simply ''supplier'' and yes I know full well the local old bill are not supplying anything other then my freedom but we should still be able to claim ''in respect of a misrepresentation or breach of contract, he shall have a like claim against the creditor, who, with the supplier, shall accordingly be jointly and severally liable to the debtor.''
Does that not hold water?0 -
can I ask WHERE was this in switzerland?
Where you really not being very very noisy?
I'd have to be threatened with being detained to cough up that amount of cash to a village policeman? And even then....0 -
Hi
Looking for some advice here please. I ordered from a company called Hot Fires and paid on my Santander Zero CC. Luckily the order was £105. The company have now gone into administration
I have today telephoned the administrators and was told to seek a refund via my CC. I phoned Santander to be told that I need a letter from the administrator confirming that they wont be refunding me. Is this usual?
Also when my statement arrives all it will have on it is this transaction. Do I have to make a payment if I am disputing the transaction? What happens if I make the minimum payment and then incur interest charges? Will I get these back? If I pay the CC off in full will the CC company be less likely to refund my money?
Sorry for all of the questions0 -
