Hello I’m new to this site and have a question sorry if I have posted in the incorrect thread.
I’m just about to book on a training course that costs £14,000 I have to pay up front for the course the company have been going for a while but I’m worried that if they go into administration I will be left with no diploma and would have lost £14k I would like any guidance on if I book the course on a credit card would I be able to claim my money back if the company folds within the 2 years of my studying before I graduate or would it lapse once I start on my course. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Be very aware of the CC company using the get out of 'using a 3rd party payment processor'. See my earlier post of my training course experience.
I paid for my course, £208 deposit on CC. I took the rest out on 0% finance. Although the agreement said i'd be covered under Section 75, when it came to it, they said it wasn't covered as 0% finance is 'exempt' from protection. CC company wouldn't honour due to 3rd party payment processor. I'm still battling with the Financial Ombudsman after they initially said they couldn't help due to 0% finance exemption. It's still ongoing after nearly 2 years and now i'm fighting for a mis-sold product.
The training provider was a long established company that went bust before i'd completed my training. Then, set up a brand new company within a month!
It's criminal how they can get away with this. It seems Section 75 doesn't really cover you now these companies use a 3rd party to take your payment. Do your research as much as possible.

I’m supposed to be going to Thailand 24th Feb. Booked all separate. Flights with emirates, hotels with Agoda and Holiday Inn. Hubby has compromised immune system so we’re reluctant to travel with the Coronavirus. Some airlines and countries are advising against travel to Thailand. Spoke to emirates who won’t let me cancel with a refund, same with the hotels (I’d lose everything) insurance won’t cover us just wanting to cancel. Would I be able to claim under section 75 for this issue? Real dilemma here ATM.0

Hi I am looking at buying a car through a website. I would pay £1000 on the credit card as a deposit and the rest as a bank transfer. The car is £31.5k.
The car gets delivered on purchase. So if the company goes bust or it doesn’t arrive would the purchase be covered? It’s over £30k but not sure whether section 75a would apply if it’s not bought on loan finance with the dealer. Any ideas?
Thanks

Does not matter who the finance is with, the purchase price has to fall within £100 > £30,000. for it to be covered under 75.So your purchase is not covered..Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

Wrong if you pay one penny as a deposit you are covered as long as the overall cost is over £100 people get this part wrong0

Igov said:Wrong if you pay one penny as a deposit you are covered as long as the overall cost is over £100 people get this part wrongAnd not above £30,000.00, people get this part wrong!"Pay for something costing more than £100 and up to £30,000 on credit and the provider's equally liable if something goes wrong."

Hi
Firstly apologies if a similar question has already been asked.I used a company called SnapTravel to book a hotel in Tokyo this July/August. I received confirmation that the reservation had been made and my Halifax credit card debited.I have checked with the hotel directly to see if they have the reservation however they haven’t and say they are fully booked at this time.I do not want to go ahead with this transaction as I do not want to arrive in Japan and have the hotel turn me away. The reservation had free cancellation however when I have tried to do this, SnapTravel have refused to give me the refund claiming that all is fine with the booking - it clearly isn’t as the hotel say they have no record of it.Am I covered under Section 75 as it’s a little unclear as these services are yet to be provided.Big thanks for any guidance anyone can give me.0 -

My cousin in America booked flights with Flybe directly who have gone into administration this morning, are they able to claim back on their US credit card they paid with or is section 75 only for UK citizens? Thanks in advance0

I booked some flights on one MasterCard, and a hotel through Agoda using a different provider's MasterCard.
The flights were cancelled (the airline is refunding) ...can I claim for 'consequential loss' for the hotel cost from either MasterCard? (Agoda has refused to refund already)
We didn't have travel.insurance and they are not the sort of CCs that have insurance built in.
Thankyou
