  • I don't think that the lady was right in what she was telling you W1zz. I went to my local Game store yesterday and I was told that they only had bundles in stock and not the stand alone system. I asked why this was so and at first he told me that it was Microsoft which forced them to sell it.

I told him that could not be right as Microsoft had not released a bundle with games, etc that had to be bought at the same time.

After a while he relented and said, it was Game that was doing the bundle and Microsoft had not forced them to sell the other games and controllers.

So be careful when you purchase the console as most of the retailers are just there for a quick buck.
At this moment in time Microsoft have not forced any retailer to sell the console as a bundle. It is just the retailers that are saying Microsoft have forced them to do it when in actual fact they have not.

If you look hard enough in stores, you will find a Xbox360.
  • Both Spain and France use 220-240 volts 50Hz, like the UK; so it's just a question of putting a new plug on, or getting a converter.

But what about the Xbox itself? Does anyone know if it can be made English through the menu system?

any 'forced' bundles are total balls

MS may well be allocating consoles more favourably to retaillers that sell the most games and accessories, hence the retaillers insistance on bundles - they sell more, they get more!
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

No wonder all the retailers who are selling these things are going to have a Happy Christmas!

Microsoft have nothing to do with the allocation of consoles. To the best of my knowledge, they have a third party who deal with all of the distribution.

    Gem do it for them.

M$ have the final say on distribution of any of their products. They also set the prices.

many cex stores have got xbox 360 in stock (cant see them online at the mo)

they are doing the core pack for £500-600
    and the premium pack £800

I know the price is juz too high but at least they got some in stock...

    :)

    Complain...

The console price is fixed by microsoft. They simply are not allowed to sell at a higher or lower price than the price microsoft have set. It's done that way so that things like this can't happen. The only instance where they don't have to are second hand units which can be sold for any price.

But MS are not currently allocating their consoles out to stores - at least not in the UK. So they aren't 'cherry-picking' which stores they go to. Not that it would matter the rate they are selling!
