The console price is fixed by microsoft. They simply are not allowed to sell at a higher or lower price than the price microsoft have set. It's done that way so that things like this can't happen. The only instance where they don't have to are second hand units which can be sold for any price.
Microsoft set a Suggested Selling Price or a Suggested Retail Price. It is then up to the retailier to decide what it is sold for. If what you say is correct then there would be no such thing as highstreet competition as everyone would be selling at the same price.0 -
I called into Comet in Newcastle-under-Lyme yesterday and spoke to one of the managers about when he thinks they may have stocks.
He told me that a general e-mail was sent out to all stores confirming that they will not be receiving any more xbox 360 stock until after christmas.
Not sure how true this is? but it seemed on good authority

Not true at all. They are just saying that to cover their backs. They will get more shipments in and it just depends on when they will get it as they have no specific dates.0

Dark_Forces is right: MS are working overtime to get more Xbox consoles made and sent out, but there are no specifics available as to which shops will get them and when. Just keep your eyes peeled and you might get lucky.0

No one has any facts, everything is hearsay. People are just saying what they think will happen. The only people who really know are the manufacturer and possibly the distributors.0

I'd be very wary. It again shows as in stock in the shop, but I have an outstanding order for two and they are showing as awaiting stock. I don't trust Play at all on this one.....0 -
