Thanks for my veg plot plan Mumof4, I'm quite inspired now
As for the SR v plain flour, I have added baking powder to plain at times when I've run out, but as SR is the same price I usually stock both.0 -

Well done on some wise spending :T As you've now achieved what you wanted from the op, and this thread has become a blog of how you'll use your stores, MSE Andrea has asked that we move such threads to the How Much Have You Saved board.

Mum of 4 I just wanted to say that I am full of admiration for what you have done so far and what you hope to achieve.
Have you thought about using dried milk for sauces, puddings etc? It works out much cheaper and works really well.
I hope you all have a good holiday and look forward to reading an update when you get back.SPC No 12 (was 287)

:rotfl: I've just been eyeing up the breadmaker, should i take it???? think that that would be taking self catering holidays to a new level.
well i've got my cool bags ready one to be full of frozen one a mix of frozen and chilled plus non chilled food in other bags. I think there will be more food than clothes.

We took our breadmaker when we went on holiday this year. I just could not face having to buy bread. Used to set machine up to finish around 9.30pm knowing we would be back then or sometimes made rolls in evening for next day.
We also went to eurodisney in may with two suitcases One with clothes the other full of snack things to save on buying lunch. (apples, muesli bars, raisins etc and water-expensive over there)
Edited to say we did not take breadmaker to eurodisney that was a different holiday!!!!Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

Wow, just read all of this. Maz you are a one woman wonder. I have to agree with the poster who said your kids are so lucky to have such an industrious mother. If any one deserves a holiday it's you.
Thanks for the Veg planner. I received it today.0 -
I'm back - had a really great holiday at woolacombe bay. Big thankyou to Sharon (who will now visit this site told her how friendly everyone is)who was fab, and now going to buy a panny breadmaker. Children really loved you and i loved our chats. Kat you are a star and really made the holiday really fun for the children.
DD2 1/2 wone the facy dress comp, bless her. Husband won £32 for a line in bingo and I won a bottle of wine in the lucky draw of the used bingo tickets. :T :T :T :T :T :T
I did take my panny and my hand bender:rolleyes: and planned my mealks really well. Only ended up buying a shop loaf:mad: and another 4 pints of full fat milk. did however forget the washing up liquid, soap and washing up brush so i had to dip into my budget for that. I also took 6 litres of boxed red wine with us but at £12ish that was real bargin. I even ended up bring some frozen food back with us.
So my amount spent has now gone up quite a bit but I'm sure I am still on target. This is day 21 and yesturday i went to Mr T and stocked up on more milk, apples, banana's,oranges, double crea, and some smoked fish so another £8.63.
The fish is smoked river cobbler and seemed the best price (£2.12 for 0.324kg) i could find for any type of smoked fish, the packet says pice per kg is £6.54. I am hoping to split it and add to my value white fish and make a couple of fish pies.
What is river cobbler????Kind Regards
